O'Brien -- Not as good as I had hoped, but well documented and there are some smooth and shiny pebbles to be found. Others may gain more than I did.

I haven't read Under Our Skin: Getting Real about Race–And Getting Free from the Fears and Frustrations That Divide Us, but I want to. It has a very high rating, and Tim Challies gave it five stars.

Edited to add:I just saw that you're not American, so the book may not be of interest to you.

Misreading Scripture with Western Eyes: Removing Cultural Blinders to Better Understand the Bible is not "national-referenced" book and it may be more suitable for non-American readers, as well.

Shawn Yoder | 6 comments Anybody read Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson. Thinking of reading that this year and putting down for this category

message 10: by Cameron (new)

Cameron Barham | 2 comments Just Mercy is a powerful example of what a handful of folks can do to bring about significant changes at both the individual and systemic level. One of the best books for me from what I read in 2016.

Lee (purrfectlee) America's Original Sin by Jim Wallis is an incredibly powerful and informative read.

America's Original Sin: Racism, White Privilege, and the Bridge to a New America

Thanks! I just got the book through audio and am starting it today. The author's sister teaches at my kids small private Christian school so he has been on my radar for a little while.
Would it fall under the category or a book on race or racial issues?

Chris Coleman | 4 comments The book I always recommend when it come to race issues (especially race/racial issues and the church) is Divided by Faith: Evangelical Religion and the Problem of Race in America. One of the best I've read.

Joe (joespringza) | 11 comments It might be an uncomfortable fit in this thread, but please could you recommend a good book on abolition of slavery in North America?

Deborah (mrspuffin) | 4 comments I'd be interested in something about First Nations (I'm in Canada).
