I'm currently (as of 12/19/16) at 101 books of a 100-book challenge. I read pretty much anything that caught my fancy which is perfectly okay, of course, plus I am in a book club locally, so that's a nice challenge, too.
For 2017, I plan on another 100 books, with the proviso that 25% (25 or more) of the books have to be considered classics, at least published before 2000 and generally considered to be classics.
I am a member of the reading the classics group here on GR, and they vote on classics each month - older ones, and modern classics and a few wildcards. Obviously anything read for that group will be added to that category, and I expect to read or re-read such works as Gulag Archipelago by Alexander Solzhenitsyn, A Confederacy of Dunces, and Orwell's Road to Wigan Pier as well as 1984. I want to also tackle some Dostoevsky and Thackery, too.
Up for January is Remains of the Day (a newer classic).
