Question for the group: would a book about drinks satisfy the "book about food" one?

Yes. Food & drink could very well be lumped in together, I think.

Yes I'm happy with that. I'll edit the main post when I get a chance

Does "multiple authors" mean co-authors or like an anthology?

Arguably either, I'd say.

message 7: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 641 comments I'm currently reading Flatland: A Romance of Many Dimensions.
The narrator is a square. As in the shape. But he refers to them as humans. But he's definitely a square.
Would that count as "A book from a nonhuman perspective"?

And for "A novel set during wartime", it can be during any war right? I already have a book on my agenda for this year that took place during a war back during the Middle Ages....

I'd say any war is fine. And if the square sees itself as nonhuman, I think that's fine.

well, dammit. I have three books left to get, which I could easily do in the time allotted.

But the various library systems I have access to only have 1 of those. There is an Inter-Library Loan system, but it's not known for being speedy.

Crap.

I don't think there's a minimum page requirement on these. Are there any picture books that would work?

Not that I can think of for "an author you love recommended to you" or "a genre you've never heard of" which is... difficult... when you're well read, as I expect everyone here is.

I have the beginnings of a plan...

For author recommendation, I looked at authors' pages here on GR. There's a generic question they often get asked: What are your favorite books? I found one there I'd just happened to have read recently.

The new genre one was tricky. I googled obscure genres and found these (haven't read any yet):
Meanwhile (ergodic)
A House-Boat on the Styx (Bangsian)
The Ghost Bride (same)

I'm going with "Slipstream" which seems horribly badly defined, but hey, at this point, I"ll take it. I can't get the one I wanted, but some others seem to fit the bill. I may break down and buy the book that was recommended, since it was an author I idolize who recommended it to me in person and very enthusiasctically

That's cool -- personal interaction with authors is the best.
