Clean Sweep 2018Duration: 1/10/18 - 1/8/19
Duration: Year long challenge beginning on January 10, 2018
So you took a year long cruise last year. Woohoo! That must have been fun. But we are back with a trunk full of new books that need space on our shelves. In order to make room, we need to clean out some of our old books.
So I started looking at my TBR list. Whoo Boy! That list is extensive. I have books that have been there for a year that aren't read. I have books that I have read that have no read date. I have books that I have read that have no review. I also have series that I started, but never finished. Some on purpose, and some that I wanted to, but never got around to.
So, I decided to do something about it.
This is an individual challenge that can be joined at any time within the year. I have tried to be as comprehensive with the requirements as possible, so read this and the Q & A before asking questions. Follow the Standard Book Qualifications , except for Re-Reads. We only want to read books we haven't read before.
125 Minimum Pages
Most things are the same from last year. You will:
A. Create a special shelf that is for (whatever you want to name it.) I created Clean Sweep 2018 , and made it exclusive so that I don't have to worry about accidentally reading any of those books. Making it exclusive also has the benefit of putting it in the top group of links in My Books, so I don't have to keep hunting for it. Or you can make it sticky. That also puts it near the top, but the books are still available on other shelves. If you need help on making your shelf, making it sticky, or exclusive, see the 1st spoiler below.
B. Place 36 books on your shelf that you already own, can get easily from your library, or from somewhere like KU (kindle unlimited), but they have to already be on your TBR shelf! Don't add books that you found yesterday. That kinda defeats the purpose. Add books that have been on your TBR for a least a month. The only exception is series. You can add those as they come up.
C. I recommend not reading any of these books until that shelf is called, but it is up to you. If you read them, replace them immediately.
D. Figure out how you want to sort your shelf, and do the same thing every time. If you need help on how to sort, see the 2nd spoiler below. I will be sorting by Random.
E. Finally, make yourself a post below and keep track there throughout the year. All that is needed is the title and date added to TBR and date read.
When adding to my shelf, I kept some things in mind.
1. The books had to have been on my TBR shelf for over a month. (preferably older, but it is up to you)
2. Are these books I had read before? This is not the time for rereads.
3. Is this a series book? I only added the next book in the series. For example, if I am reading Ilona Andrews Burn for Me series, and I have already read book 1, then I would put book 2 on my list, but NOT book 3. I don't want to read this series out of order, so I will wait until the shelf call for book 2, then I will replace it with book 3 for the next round.
4. Do I really want to read this book? My reading preferences change often. One moment I am reading Romance, the next Science Fiction. So be sure to look at your shelf often, and change out the books as your preferences change.

Clean Sweep 2019Duration: 1/1/19 - 12/31/19
Step 1: Choose a level - weekly, bi-weekly, monthly
Weekly – one book per week
Bi-weekly – one book per 2 weeks
Monthly – one book per month
Step 2: Create a new shelf for this challenge. Most just label it Clean Sweep.
Step 3: Add exactly 36 books to your shelf. You will be creating a 6x6 grid.
Step 4: After your shelf is complete, scroll to the bottom of the page and change per page to 50. (Do not use infinite scroll.) Change your shelf to cover view by clicking on cover view found in the upper right of your screen (looks like 4 little solid squares). You should now have a 6x6 grid of covers.
Step 5: Make 1 post to keep track of your progress.
Step 6: On Tuesdays *yes, I am changing the day as this fits better for 2019*, I will call a randomly selected row and column number. Read the book associated with the row and column. If you are not playing weekly, you may choose which week(s) to participate.
By the next Tuesday, you will need to replace any books that you have read with new books.
Step 7: Keep your shelf updated! I have trouble with this one, so as long as you have 36 books on your shelf before you create the grid, then you are good. Since the position called each week will be randomly selected, the same spot may be called more than once.
Step 8: Update your participation post with your book and rating. Do not make a new post.
***Note: If you miss the start of this challenge, you may join in at anytime. You can either choose to start from the beginning of the call outs or start from when you create your list.
Some guidelines when adding books.
The books you add to your shelf MUST be available on the date you add them to your shelf. NO future publications.
Only add books you are willing to read! If series order is important to you, only add the next book in the series.
All books must meet standard AAMP/Game Night guidelines for page length.
You CAN change the books on your Clean Sweep shelf at any time.
You CAN replace books that you've lost interest in or move in newly released books.
You MUST replace books that you've read for this or other challenges with new books.

Climb On-Board!
So the secret is out...as the ships prepare to set sail for their trips around the world for the next six months it's time to announce one of their secret hidden features. Onboard and safely tucked into each of the deluxe cabins for your enjoyment is one fantastic Magical Chest of Books
Each chest will hold exactly 36 series books off of your TBR, not 35, not 37, 36 and only 36. But each book read will magically be replaced by another book off of your TBR! This way you'll always have a little bit of home along with you. Everyone wants to use their vacation time to get caught up on those books they've always wanted to read, so we've provided the perfect way to bring them along with you.
* Add 36 books (series or TBR) from your TBR to your shelf. Not 32 books, not 39 books, always exactly 36 books (you are making a 6x6 grid). These are the books that can be accessed from your trunk.
* The books you add to your shelf must be available on the date you add them to your shelf. NO future publications. You may only add books you are willing to read! If series order is important to you, only add the next book in the series.
** On Wednesdays between 11:00am - 2:00 pm PST , I will call a randomly selected row and column number. Read the book associated with the row and column. If you are not playing weekly, you may choose which week(s) to participate. ***Please note, the time for calls will be as exact as I can unless my work schedule changes.
** Your shelf should be updated by Wednesday 10:30am PST.
* Keep your shelf updated! Your shelf must have 36 books on it on the day the new book is called. Since the position called each week will be randomly selected, the same spot may be called more than once. You do need to move out the books you've read and replace them with new books.
* You may replace books that you've read for this or other challenges with other series TBR books. You may replace books that you've lost interest in or move in newly released books.
