Sounds good! I've never been to the US myself, so that makes this quite easy!

Here are some recommendations!

- The Girl from Everywhere by Heidi Heilig (Hawaii, YA, Fantasy, #1 in a series) **Hawaii before it became a state.
- The Essex Serpent by Sarah Perry (England, Adult, Historical Fiction)
- Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare (Italy, Adult, Classic)
- Journey to the River Sea by Eva Ibbotson (Brazil, Middle Grade, Historical Fiction)
- Ink and Bone by Rachel Caine (Egypt, YA, Sci-Fi)
- Stolen by Lucy Christopher (Australia, YA, Contemporary)
- A Tyranny of Petticoats edited by Jessica Spotswood (USA, YA, Historical Fiction)


The following are books I have not read, but you may want to consider anyway!
- The Pearl That Broke Its Shell by Nadi Hashimi (Afghanistan, Adult, Contemporary)
- And The Mountains Echoed by Khaled Hosseini (Aghanistan/US/France/Greece, Adult, Historical Fiction/Contemporary)
- The Fever Tree by Jennifer McVeigh (South Africa, Adult, Historical Fiction)

Yeah, this one is really fun because there are so many options, and it would be really cool to read a book that really does the culture/country justice. :)

It reminded me I have a book on Modoc that I still need to read so I am changing my Memoir book to Modoc: The True Story of the Greatest Elephant That Ever Lived

It sounds great! That's why I bought it two years ago. And I remember seeing elephants in the Phoenix Zoo and they were former circus elephants, they were very sweet. Such gentle giants. And so smart! :o

Thanks posting examples of these! Makes it a little easier if I have one of the ones you've listed on my TBR so I don't have to do the research myself lol.
