The final scenes involving Backus, Harry and Rachel...exciting or not? Were you surprised that he got the jump on Harry?

I thought the trip through the waters in the Narrows was exciting. I wasn't surprised that Backus got the drop on Harry. I was afraid Backus might get away again.

I thought it was really exciting. I like how Connelly always involves some aspect of Los Angeles as an element of the story. I was a bit surprised when Harry let him get the drop on him because he knew it was coming.

Like many of Connelly's books, the build up was rather slow and tedious but the last few chapters where everything comes together were action packed and exciting.

I couldn't put the book down at the end (I switched from the audio at the halfway mark because the alternating 3rd and 1st person was too distracting).
