The first book for January is Twisted Threads by Lea Wait.

I'll let you know when the second book is chosen.

The theme for the month is Amish, and the book is Murder Simply Brewed by Vannetta Chapman.

I've completed the list of people to choose books. If anyone else wants to choose, Barb, Nell, and I meant to be alternates, so we'll be glad to give our spots away.

Tracye - Your month is October so it's way too early for you to post your choices. Love your enthusiasm though. ;-D

The featured series for the next month is usually posted after the 15th of the current month.

Michelle - Welcome to the group. It sounds like you've decided to dive right in.

We try to have a variety of ways to participate in the group. Some members like challenges, others are looking for new series or want to discuss their latest cozy read.

Every month two cozy mystery series are featured. They are the featured reads and appear at the top of the group's home page. Members take turns picking the series. It's one of the ways we discover new series or rediscover older ones. There is a discussion thread where members can post comments. It's a book discussion, not a challenge.

The Serial Reader challenge happens monthly. That's where members post 5 series and another member selects one of them for you to read. The goal is to read two books in the series.

From time to time, we host mini-challenges that have a cozy mystery theme and run for a set period, often 2-3 months. And there are longer challenges posted further down on the group's page.

Participate in whatever group activities interest you and most important...have fun!

Either I posted in the wrong topic or my post disappeared. I was giving a heads up that Sharon's theme book is probably going to be The Book Club Murders by Leslie Nagel. It's only available in e-book form and is $.99 at amazon. I've set up a topic in this folder to discuss e-book and physical books.

Sharon's other choice will be here soon.

That must have been a special price. It's selling for $3.99 on Amazon right now. Still a good price but not as deep a discount.

Both books are set in New England - Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
For Kindle, Cappuccinos, Cupcakes, and a Corpse is free and Drizzled with Death is $2.99. These may be special sale prices so check before you buy.

message 40: by Becky (new)

Becky | 211 comments Just reserved Drizzled with death. Neither library system i use have the first one except in e version & i don't use that version.

message 41: by Alice (last edited Jun 06, 2017 06:10AM) (new)

Alice | 756 comments Yes I live in Massachusetts so I wanted to do a New England theme for you. The Cape Bay series by Harper Lin does a great job of capturing the look, feel, smell of a coastal New England vacation town. I have read most of the published books so far and enjoyed them.

The Sugar Grove series captures New Hampshire and its little shops selling local Maple Syrup. I have read the first two in this series. I think this is one of the series that was axed by the publisher recently like so many of our cozy series.

I hope you like my choices and enjoy a little of New England

I own both of these -- the first on my kindle, the second in bound book format. All I have to do is actually *read them next month :)

Julesy | 409 comments I've been eyeing the Cape Bay Cafe series for a while. I got the free ebook for CAPPUCINOS a while ago but I am going to listen to this on audio. I can get the audio on hoopla, but I always like having a print version to coincide with my audios for reference purposes. Looking forward to July!

I do that also. I do ebook and audiobook at the same time. I feel I concentrate more that way.

Do you reading along while the audio is playing? I don't do that since I usually I listen pretty well during my long commute to work. I just like to have the ebook in case I need to search back on details, names, clues, etc. Can't really do that with the audio or paper book.

Yes, I read along while the audio is playing. I have wait time between jobs. My commute to and from work is about 30 minutes and I'd rather listen to the traffic reports on the radio.

True, I hear details such as names, clues, etc., where I stop the audio and go back to read the paragraph carefully.

I got the free ebook too. I just started reading it last night. I've never tried listening to the audio version at the same time I'm reading a book. I may have to give it a try.
