Victoria Scott | 1131 comments Welcome to 2017 everyone, and may it be a million times better than 2016! This challenge is all about forgetting the horror that was 2016, and having a far happier 2016.

The specific prompts are up to you, whether it's personal or something bigger that happened in the world. Examples could be a diverse book around something that happened (a woman politician for Hillary, or an LGBTQ+ book for Orlando, or education on Islam religion), set in a place of a big event, about a person or died, or their profession, or something more personal that happened to you last year. For 2017 prompts, make it something happy! Someone overcoming adversity or achieving a dream, a role model, a book you know will make you happy.

You get a point per book read (please write a small review so we know you read it!) and a bonus point for a buddy read (book and series of the month count as buddy reads!). This challenge lasts the entire year, beginning January 1st, and there will be a prize for the winner on January 1st 2018.

You can join at any point in the year, and count back books you've read through 2017!

Planning and reviews will be done in this thread, and moved if there's a large amount of participation

Michelle Holden I have decided this year, following the debarcle leading to an orange Trump as President, to read more about US civil rights and its economic history. One of my first books scheduled for Feb on this theme is Blood Brothers which looks at relationship between Ali and Malcolm X. I also want to read the Underground Railway in March. More to follow later in year.
