In Bed with the Devil
In Bed with the Devil (Scoundrels of St. James, #1) by Lorraine Heath

They call him the Devil Earl—a scoundrel and accused murderer who grew up on the violent London streets. A proper young lady risks more than her reputation when consorting with the roguishly handsome Lucian Langdon, but Lady Catherine Mabry believes she has no choice. To protect those she loves, she would do anything—even strike a bargain with the devil himself.

Lucian desires respectability and a wife above all else, but the woman of his choosing lacks the social graces to be accepted by the aristocracy. Catherine can help Lucian gain everything he wants. But what she asks for in exchange will put their very lives in jeopardy. When danger closes in, Catherine discovers a man of immense passion and he discovers a woman of immeasurable courage. As secrets from his dark past are revealed, Lucian begins to question everything he knows to be true, including the yearnings of his own heart.

Andrea AKA Catsos Person (catsosperson) | 1635 comments I read this prior to joining GR but don't have time for a reread.

I'm going to lurk and see what you guys think of it.

I liked it, I hope you enjoy it too!

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 584 comments Put it on hold at the library :0)

lorii (Loriidae) | 1120 comments One of my favourite historicals. Enjoy everyone. =^..^=

Mariana | 2692 comments My library has 30 books by Lorraine Heath, but this is not one of them. I want to read and will check this weekend to see if my local B&N or Half Price Books has a copy.

Andrea AKA Catsos Person (catsosperson) | 1635 comments Mariana,

Since you are willing to buy this, I hope you like it.

If BN local doesn't have it on the shelf, they can order for store pick up at no extra cost.

Good tip, but I am too impatient. If neither stores have it on the shelf, I will probably download from Amazon.

Mariana | 2692 comments Okay, I had to wait after all. I just got the book in the mail today and am about to start. Anyone else reading?

Priya (priyachennareddy) | 1544 comments I couldn't get this book, so I am skipping this one.

Mariana | 2692 comments I am five chapters in.

Were you able to get from the library Lauren?

Leann Sapinoso | 1 comments I enjoyed this book so much! I actually read the rest in the series. :)

Yes, I have it. Will read it after I finish my current book.

I enjoyed the book as well but wasn't sure if I wanted to continue with the series. How do the others compare? As good or better than this one?

Andrea AKA Catsos Person (catsosperson) | 1635 comments I hat D.C. the hero in Franny Darling's book, "Surrender to the Devil and CNFd it.

Maybe the hero was redeemed later in the book, but I couldn't put up with him to read the rest of the book and find out.

I also hated his interactions with Franny.

I really like Franny and not sure I would like that.

Mahak | 54 comments Second & third book of this series is worth reading.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 584 comments Started reading last night. I'm not really a fan of the (view spoiler), but I'm willing to see how it pans out.

Giselle (gisellesbookgarden) I read this a few days ago and forgot to post about it!! I actually really enjoyed this one! I thought it was pretty ridiculous. Especially the end but I still found it really enjoyable and compulsive. And I'm definitely continuing on with the series. I need to read what happens to the other characters. I've started the second one and I really don't like Jack but I'll keep going through.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 584 comments Finished the book and enjoyed it very much. There were some parts that were contrived and very predictable, but it was well written and the characters very likable.

I will continue with the series even though Jack is quite the anti-hero.

Andrea AKA Catsos Person (catsosperson) | 1635 comments Lauren, if you contine with this series, I'd like to know how you feel about Frannie's book when you get around to it.

Sure thing.

Right now, I'm not that impressed with Frannie. My preference is for strong willed heroines. Of course, I'm probably going to struggle with Winnie's story even more...
