Not sure if I'll get to this one in January (my TBR is already quite full!) but I'll try!

I went to see the movie, and then read this!! I realized there were tons of little things I missed in the movie. Went back and saw the movie again. It was even more amazing!

I loved that every word of the movie is in the book!

Pickett is my favorite beast! :)

Victoria Zigler (toriz) | 4472 comments I do intend to watch the movie. But I'm waiting to get hold of the DVD. I almost never go see something in the cinema. I usually either wait for it to be on Sky Movies, or just go ahead and grab the DVD.

Lanie (Sherwood1192yahoocom) | 81 comments Yay! It's January! I can officially start my January book of the month. XD I got my coffee, my comfy pajamas, my giant blanket & my book already to go! And a sweet little kitty friend to snuggle with. Let's get reading!

Elora Mitchell | 449 comments Fun!
This one is on my TBR. I might just try to pick it up this month. :)

Lanie (Sherwood1192yahoocom) | 81 comments Finished reading it yesterday! It was amazing! Anyone else love the illustrations?

☆Joycedale☆ | 310 comments I've requested a copy from my library

Elora Mitchell | 449 comments Just requested it from the library but I'm 40th on the list...

☆Joycedale☆ | 310 comments It was that way with mine too. Then I remembered last month they added ebooks, I'm next for that one.

40th?! oh, I'd hate to be on a waiting list that long! It'd be agony! Hopefully everyone finishes it quickly. :)

Megan (dreamer_18) | 5 comments I just saw the movie on Tuesday, i bought the book on Thursday. I started reading it New Years Eve. I'm obsessed with both the movie and the book. The Niffler actually remimds my mom and I of my two year old cousin, which just makes me love the little guy even more. And as a Hufflepuff, I'm hoping it'll become easier to find Hufflepuff merchandise now with the movie out, since Newt is also a Hufflepuff. I think the fact that we're in the same house makes me love his character even more, and i already adored his character. Lol.

Yes! Like, I am so excited to be able to finally see my house shine in this series. I'm so excited that the world gets to see just how amazing Hufflepuffs are, and the they get to learn more about the other houses. Because it is not all about Griffindor or Slytheren. All of the houses are amazing in their own ways, im glad everyone is gonna get to finally see that.

Lanie (Sherwood1192yahoocom) | 81 comments My sister's a hufflepuff. :) she was so stoked to learn Newt was one too. :D

And here I thought 2016 couldn't get any better! I know I have said this many times, but 2016 has been a great year for books and let's just go out with a bang! 2016 was the year for the return of Harry Potter. Even though none of the characters from the Harry Potter books appear in this one, it is still good to return to same world.

Let me start out by saying that this is a screenplay. It is not written like a book and the style is very close to that as Cursed Child. However, one thing that this has going for it over Cursed Child is that J.K Rowling did write this one. It is a lot better put together than Cursed Child and it does have that richness that we have come to know and expect from J.K Rowling.

Now, that we have that out of the way....

The plot is a lot simpler than Harry Potter, which is probably a good thing. It is maturely written and the fact that we only focus on a few things, really sets the mood up right. The characters are adult and they are a lot more mature than what we have come to expect from the Harry Potter world. The world is bigger and the threats are still just as dangerous. Now, I know that some of you are groaning at the thought of having adult characters, but the world is still very rich and very entertaining. Think of it like this, you get the richness of the world, but you get to back into history to see the how and why things are in Harry Potter's time.

Newt Scamander is probably not the type of hero we would expect. He is rather geeky and pretty awkward. He's a young Magizoologist, who is very involved in his work. He tries to make people understand that magical creatures are not all that dangerous....Kind of reminds of another Harry Potter character....Okay, Newt is really dorky, but he is such a lovable character. I know that many people will fall in love with him. I really don't know how to describe him, but he is the furtherest thing away from Harry Potter.

Jacob Kowalski is another very likable character. He is a Muggle, but he is funny and very average. He just wants to get a loan for his bakery and manages to find himself being sucked into the magical world. While I can see a lot of people getting annoyed with him and wondering why he is a main character, I find that he rather lightens the plot up a little bit and adds that little bit of normal life into the world.

Tina! Oh, Tina! I really do feel bad for her, being the outcast of the Aurors. She does have a caring side and is a real go-getter. Plus, her and Queenie together make a great pair. I do love how Tina almost will do anything for someone in trouble-really can't say much because it will ruin it.

Now, I did watch the movie as well and I will say that it is well down. The cast really fits the characters. Now, I will admit that I am not a fan of the Grindelwald casting. I am sorry, but Johnny Depp would not have been my choice. My view may change as the series goes on, but I am sorry, it just doesn't work for me. I do like Johnny Depp, but I really think he does not fit the Harry Potter world.

Overall, this is a must read for Harry Potter fans! While the movie may be pleasing to the eyes, I feel that this screenplay is very pleasing to the imagination.

Great review Serena! I adore both Newt and Jacob and I was very enamored of both! They both have gentle souls and very caring hearts, especially to animals! My kind of guy! :-D

I looked it up, its the Demiguise. This creature is really really cool. Its the one that can see all eventuallities. I loved the scene with it and the Occamy (the bird-dragon like thing that takes about whatever space its in, so it can change size.) They use the Demiguise's fur in the Wizarding World to make Invisibility Cloaks, too.

A bowtruckle would be cool, but I want a niffler more.

I know the one you mean. Yeah, one of them would be great too.

They should do a game like Pokemon for this so we can collect them all. ;)

☆Joycedale☆ | 310 comments Well that was quick read lol.
I really liked it and can't wait for the DVD. Newt was just too adorkable. Tina I didn't like so much at first but I get well she was coming from. I loved Queenie and Jacob's story and was happy with that ending.
