I'll be adding yo mine too. I'm not putting on Rothfuss or Martin either!

Scott Hitchcock (lostinthewarrenofchaos) | 443 comments You look to be roughly in the same shape as I am.

message 4: by Elise (new)

Elise (ghostgurl) | 1028 comments Added Discworld to the list, specifically the Death books.

message 5: by Margret (new)

Margret I'm thinking of ditching the Rincewind ones altogether

Elise (ghostgurl) | 1028 comments Just got my first series completed for the year: The Reckoners. Great series overall.

Yay

message 9: by Elise (new)

Elise (ghostgurl) | 1028 comments Looks like I have to add another series to the list: The Spectre War.

Helen | 3616 comments Mod
I seem to be adding more than I complete.

message 11: by Elise (new)

Elise (ghostgurl) | 1028 comments Updates: Finished The Night Angel trilogy. Good series overall, but flawed.

I also added the Memoirs of Lady Trent and The Dresden Files to the list. The latter I know is unrealistic. I got my dad into the series and he's ahead of me. So I've got three unread Dresden Files books at home, so maybe I can at least make a dent in it. Maybe not this year though. :P

Corrupting your dad eh, lol

message 13: by Elise (new)

Elise (ghostgurl) | 1028 comments I'm going to be focusing on the Robert Langdon books now. Makes for good summer reads too. :)

message 14: by Elise (new)

Elise (ghostgurl) | 1028 comments A small update. I'm at 3 out of 4 for Robert Langdon. Technically will end up being five books because Dan Brown's supposed to have a new one out soon. So, I'll have to adjust that.

I'm taking a break from this series for now as I have other reading plans in my priorities. I might not come back to this series until next year.

message 15: by Elise (new)

Elise (ghostgurl) | 1028 comments So, I can cross another series off my list: The Maze Runner, though I don't know overall if it was worth reading. I really enjoyed the first book, but as for the rest, it became a sinking ship. I finished the series feeling annoyed and that's the last thing I want to feel after completing a series. I have one of the prequels, The Kill Order, but I don't really have any interest in reading it. I might change my mind later on, but right now I have no desire to read it at all.

There are so many good series out there to not have to read a bad one. ; )

Helen | 3616 comments Mod
Oh I’m glad I read this. I’ve totally slumped at reading and thought about starting Maze.

message 18: by Elise (new)

Elise (ghostgurl) | 1028 comments Added the Southern Reach trilogy.

message 19: by Elise (new)

Elise (ghostgurl) | 1028 comments So, to wrap things up, I managed to finish three series this year. Going to be continuing the challenge next year and beyond.

message 20: by Elise (new)

Elise (ghostgurl) | 1028 comments Two for three for the Southern Reach. I didn't care for this middle book much, but so far I'm liking Acceptance more.

message 21: by Elise (new)

Elise (ghostgurl) | 1028 comments Finished The Southern Reach. Third book was a bit better than the second, but I can't say as I recommend this trilogy as a whole. Mainly the first book is worth reading.

message 22: by Elise (new)

Elise (ghostgurl) | 1028 comments Finally crossed another off this list. I don't think there are anymore books planned in this series anyway. Finished Nell Duckworth and Geoffrey Binswanger (I don't really know if that's the series title) by Warren Fahy. They were just fun sci-fi thrillers.

I look at this list and I'm never going to finish it lol. I'll have to try better. New books from my favorite authors and adaptations always tempt me and they tend to be prioritized first. Or I just buy book one from a new series and focus on that. I've definitely completed series that aren't on this list. I'm hopeless.

Next year, I'm going to have a manageable series list and then be a free spirit the rest of the time. There were a lot of books I wanted to read this year but I was trying to be disciplined.

message 24: by Elise (new)

Elise (ghostgurl) | 1028 comments I feel like I should revise my list too.

message 25: by Helen, I·ᴍ ɪɴ ᴛʜᴇ ʟɪʙʀᴀʀʏ (new)

Helen | 3616 comments Mod
I want to complete outstanding, finished ones. Then concentrate on books I’ve bought but not read.

message 26: by Elise (new)

Elise (ghostgurl) | 1028 comments OK, updated my list just including series I'd really like to read.

And I recently abandoned Ender, the books following Ender's Game that is. It's just not for me.

message 27: by Elise (new)

Elise (ghostgurl) | 1028 comments Progressed forward in Temeraire, with Empire of Ivory. I liked this one at least until it got kind of bogged down in Africa. The ending was strong though. Laurence has gotten himself into some serious trouble now. Enjoyed the addition of the historical figure of William Wilberforce. As always, the best part of this series is the ever enduring relationship between Temeraire and Laurence. I doubt I'd enjoy this series so much without it. I think I did like the previous book more than this one, but hell if I can remember what that one was about lol. I still find that I don't lose much waiting too long between reading books in this series though as they seem pretty self contained.

Tnkw01 | 2293 comments Mod
I love the Temeraire series.

message 29: by Elise (new)

Elise (ghostgurl) | 1028 comments Updated this as I've now read book two of the Dragon Apocalypse. It's full of wild ideas, but enjoyable. I'm not sure how I feel about the situation the two main characters are now in.

message 30: by Elise (new)

Elise (ghostgurl) | 1028 comments Since everyone seems to be doing the series challenge thing right now, I made my own list a while ago and I can shamefully say I don't think I've made any progress on the list lol. I know I've started plenty of other series though and finished some. I might have to change this list later. Maybe add series I'm more serious about. I'm just really bad at these kinds of challenges lol. Maybe it's something I can focus on as a goal for next year.

But I can say I've been reading The Legend of Eli Monpress series right now and I might just binge the whole thing, which is something I rarely do.

I updated mine to series that I've read in the last three years, anything else is dust lol

message 32: by Elise (new)

Elise (ghostgurl) | 1028 comments OK, I changed my list in the first post. These would be the series I care about the most.

message 33: by Elise (last edited Sep 30, 2024 01:51PM) (new)

Elise (ghostgurl) | 1028 comments The Legend of Eli Monpress is complete. It was a bit of a mixed one for me. After two or three books I thought the series was getting pretty bloated, but I still liked it. Eli Monpress is a great character. I just wished that the rest of the series was more like the first book, and was more about heists than what I ended up getting. The magic was strange and unique with sentient spirits inhabiting even inanimate objects. The humor was good, but the world was overly complicated I think. It got draggy. That might just be my personal taste.

message 34: by Elise (new)

Elise (ghostgurl) | 1028 comments The other day I completed The Expanse series, which is probably my new favorite sci-fi series. It was surprisingly consistent from book to book. I didn't dislike any of the books even though there were some I liked more than others. Full of surprises, political conflicts, bizarre and unknown mysteries, and well developed characters I grew very attached to. I already miss them. Fantastic series.
