a book of letters

I think I can stretch this a smidge and put by Lara Avery here. It's technically one long string of letters (to herself) with a few other letters to her from friends & family.

It wasn't my favoruite book, but it I were going to up sell it I would say that We follow Sammie McCoy, a smart girl headed for Valedictorian Status- after she aims to win the debate Nationals. A curveball is thrown her way, however, when she and her family are informed of her rare genetic disease- NPC. Despite this, Sammie decides to try for everything anyways, including starting a romance with her long-time crush, rekindle a friendship with her next-door neighbor, and work on NY college plans. As her disease progresses, she is faced with several obstacles and choices that she must make on a path she never expected for herself. Full of ripe emotions, this one will be a hit for fans of John Green's The Fault in Our Stars or Nicola Yoon's Everything, Everything .

hehehehe, technically yes. I really wish I had a better pick for this one.... a mixed media book like Illuminae or Gemina would work.

This is a bit of a stretch; Thornhill consists of diary entries and graphic novel depictions, switching between two characters from two different time periods. Yes, a diary is not really a letter (though you're kind of writing to your future self), but it's nearing the end of 2017! I have to get creative!

Smy's style of storytelling draws the reader in with the gripping entries from Mary's 1982 diary and the illustrated depictions of Ella reading the journal over 30 years later. As the book progresses, the two stories exchange page time more often and Ella's "chapters" become longer while Mary's entries become shorter, pushing the reader to uncover the story more and more quickly.

While the book didn't really deliver in terms of pacing, it was still a gripping read!
