Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell has to go here. I wrote a rather lengthy review over on my Goodreads page, but the long and short was that I did not like this book. Now hang on, this is a fantastic book- it's just a fantastic book for it's intended teen audience. It is one of those books about the teen experience that really feels like it reaches out for teens. Its about going to college in your first year and feeling out of place and, in Cath's case, unwilling to change and make new experiences. And that's really important. I, as a reader, couldn't identify with Cath and had a very different experience than either she or her sister had.

But there was something about the audiobook that kept me engaged and kept me listening. That's pretty awesome for an audiobook. Considering I didn't like most of the cast (the exception is Levi) I still kept reading.

So, it's worth a listen for sure.

Insignia was definitely cool!

I love The Raven Boys audio! I need to pick that series back up. I wasn't a large fan of Blue, so when I heard that each book changed perspective I wanted to keep reading, and then more books just got put in the way. *le sigh*

Ahhhhh! The final book in the Raven Cycle was actually that author's best as she finally hits her stride and a balance with her writing/characters. Each book was such a whirl wind that I honestly wasn't really sure what had happened sometimes, BUT one of my teens encouraged me to keep at it and I'm very glad I did. :-)

Ashley (ashezbookz) I was also confused by what was happening but I think that was because I was listening to it instead of seeing the words and stop/start nature of doing that had me all over the place, that being said, I requested book 2 already from the library in audiobook format and it should available soon!

Hmm, perhaps I will have to revisit this series when I finished Crooked Kingdom. I might need a refresher of what happened in book 1.

I think I had some confusion too in book 2, but I'll take your suggestion Melissa and keep reading :)

Kari | 32 comments Decided to read Murder on the Orient Express for our teen book club selection, and I had to switch to audio for this one.
