And this is where I will put
by Andrew Shvarts . The idea is that these 5 bastards (unlegitimized heirs of lords and ladies) see something they shouldn't and it forces them to run. According to the map in the book, they travel from Castle Waverly to The Nest- which takes like month or more- and have to stay hidden on the run. They travel so long that, by the end, they start having nocturnal sleeping patterns.
Anyways, this was a really fun book with some Princess Bride elements. I reviewed it on my Goodreads here: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

As Salt to the Sea neared its end I just sort of...

Sepetys presents this story of World War II from four perspectives: three refugees and one German soldier. Our three refugees travel across East Prussia to find refuge on the Wilhelm Gustloff (where they cross paths with the soldier). This was an incredible story about a portion of history I had no idea existed!

Um... this sounds even better than I thought it would be! I'm thinking this will be a great rec for teens would enjoy Jennifer A. Nielsen's works or My Lady Jane. I loved your review and hope I have time to read it myself!

I LOVED Salt to the Sea. Ruta Septys is a beautiful historical fiction writer!
Thanks Melissa! I did enjoy it and it definitely has some My Lady Jane vibes. BTW, did you see what book 2 and 3 of the Janes series will be?!

I did see and I psyched! I wasn't sure what a "sequel" would be like, but it's so awesome to hear they're just exploring other "Jane"s in history!
