a book set in your home town/state

Rose Barnett What do you know, I am already right in the middle of a book that is set in my home town/state!

It was a surprise when I read the first chapter and saw "Tucson, Arizona" just a few pages in! It's pretty wild, because the author goes really in depth, naming locations that I've been to before!

The book is Not in the Script - it's super cute!

I miss Arizona! I went about 2 years ago and stayed in Mesa, Tempe, and Phoenix for a few days. Glad you liked the book!

This is going to take me forever to read because I only get 3 weeks with it and it has a gazillion holds right now due to the movie, but It by Stephen King by Stephen King 100% fits here.

The audio is actually fantastically done, the narrator is really engaging & entrancing and those 35 discs don't feel cumbersome- sure the packaging is huge, but it's 45 hours worth and at 4 discs in I'm still curious.

Sidenote- While I haven't finished this yet (I intend to, don't worry), I would weigh reading the book then seeing the movie or vice versa- which you feel should come first. By that I mean that the book goes back and forth in teen/adult narrative of those involved, whereas the movie separates the two. The first film follows the teenagers of Derry while the second (It: Chapter 2) follows the adult lives. I feel like I'm getting slightly spoiled reading it first, as opposed to just jumping into the movie. But, maybe you'll feel differently or want some advanced notice on the violence on children. That's why I read it first, just to see what I was getting into because I know the It with Time Curry didn't follow the books as tightly.

PS, no Derry isn't real. I think, if you look at a map, it's supposed to be North West-ish of August by like 40 minutes. But it's a blending of a few places, if I'm honest. Also the audiobook does a few Maine accents correctly, which I love!
