Question of the Day - January 2017

I don't do New Year resolutions anymore. I just end up disappointing myself. I do hope to read more this year. 2016 was a rough one for me.

I don't make new year's resolutions. But I am ALWAYS trying to lose weight.

Me too, BC. I got one of those fitness bands for Christmas so my resolution will be to get my recommended steps in every day. My second resolution is to get my whole house organized. I saw some ideas on Facebook and Pinterest which always gets me psyched up until I forget about them. LOL

Good Luck in 2017, everyone!
My resolutions are to improve my health by eating more veggies, losing weight and exercising. I will also try to keep my thoughts and my words more positive also, towards myself and others!

I got a new wonderful granddaughter!

Happened to me? Nothing. But my niece got married and that was a super special event for me.

My husband and I separated and started divorce proceedings. Happy to say that we have talked and are back together. We would rather work on our issues than throw away 20 years together.

Too many times to count ... as a woman, as a Mexican-American, as a middle-aged person, etc...
Last summer I went into a car dealership ... I just wanted information, I like to read up on the car before making a decision, and hoped to get a brochure about the model I was interested in. I wandered around the showroom for 20 minutes. I looked in the windows and read the specs posted, I walked around some more, I opened the trunk, I asked another woman walking around alone if she had been helped (but she was with her husband, who was test-driving the car), I sat in the car and played around ... At one point I actually walked toward a sales rep who had just asked the man looking at the car next to the one I was looking at if he needed help. The sales rep walked away from me!
So I went into the little OPEN cubicle where three men were standing around chit chatting and said ... "I have been here for 20 minutes and not ONE person has asked if I could be helped. I have enough $ in my checking account to pay for the car today .. but you have lost my business." Then I walked out and wrote a nasty letter to the manufacturer's headquarters. I asked, "was it because I was woman? middle-aged? Hispanic? overweight? not dressed in designer fashion?"

In my profession, EMS, us girls get it all the time. From the people on scene to the police officers to the fire department. Some still have it in their minds that EMS is a mans job.

I have decided not to make "New Years Resolutions" anymore. I do however have "New Years Plans" I have convinced myself that calling it something else will help me. Let's see..LOL. I have committed to losing weight and get in better shape. This has always been an issue for me. Also, my reading challenge for 2017 has increased to 75 books.

I know what you mean. I have fallen off track so many times.

This may sound cheesy but I guess my birthday because I have to be grateful that I was given another year. Also, it is nice to have family and friends to make you feel appreciated.

Congratulations Melissa. That's great.

Well, it didn't happen to me but my husband fell while running for a train and he has bone fragments in his knee that requires surgery.

That's a great question. I think one thing that we all have is the ability to reason and problem solve. Some people may be better at it than others but I think we all have it.

I was originally planning to visit my mother this weekend however, my little cousin is turning 12 and her and my daughter are inseparable so I postponed until next weekend. I would like to go to a movie with my husband. It has been too long since we have done that.

Hubby's birthday is today so we will be celebrating! :)

I'm not, but I'm happy and that's all that matters.

I'm not but with faith there is always hope. I'm still breathing so that to me is a blessing.

Of my dreams? We'll, I'd be Linda Rondstadt or Bernadette Peters if that were the case ... LOL
Living a good life, though. Have all we need and a decent amount of what we want.

Nope, but I haven't given up yet! :)

Leah,
Some of my dreams are on hold, but my biggest dream in life has been to have a family and I can't complain. A great husband, 2 daughters, 2 Son in laws, 1 granddaughter and another on the way. I would have to say yes I am living the life of my dreams. BLESSED

To me "The American Dream" is to live a fulfilled life. A nice home that will be a legacy for my children where they can have every opportunity to create "An American Dream" of their own. To travel whenever we want and enjoy all that life has to offer.

Almost all of them. But I do have acquaintances I'm not sure about.

January 12, Thursday: If you had the opportunity to get a message across to a large group of people, what would your message be?

I would have to say, two.

Wow. That's an interesting question. Ignorance leads to hate. Some of the most unspeakable acts have been committed due to fear and hate and intolerance. Love changes everything.

I would definitely trust my best friend with my life and since I work in EMS, I trust every one of them here.

All the time....

We lived on a farm until I was 12 and my favorite memories would be centered around playing with all the animals we had.

Yes, unfortunately I have to say that I have. There are so many things that I wish I had said and done for my cousin before he passed away. My mother raised him from the age of ten when my aunt passed away leaving him an orphan. He was more like a brother to me and I wish I told him that.

One of my favorite childhood memories is probably the summers that I would spend with my aunt and cousins in New Jersey. We would go to the amusement park and so many cool places. It was the first time I took tennis lessons even though I was terrible at it.

I deeply regret not visiting my grandparents and parents more when they were alive. When you are young it never occurs to you that some day they wont be here and when they are gone it is too late.

Paying bills
