Cyndy (cyndy-ksreader) | 231 comments I read Small Great Things by Jodi Picoult.
"You’re destined to do small great things,” she told me. “Just like Dr. King said.” She was referring to one of her favorite quotes: If I cannot do great things, I can do small things in a great way. " --- Picoult, Jodi. Small Great Things: A Novel (p. 173). Random House Publishing Group. Kindle Edition. ---
Highly recommended. I think Ms. Picoult covered a difficult topic in a thoughtful and readable manner.

Stephanie C (the_book_lady) I just finished reading "The Last Day of a Condemned Man" by Victor Hugo, in which the protagonist is sentenced to death by guillotine. This is an extremely powerful novella against the death penalty, yet the main focus is on the man's inner journey as he awaits death. It is painful, it is emotional, it is gut-wrenching. It is REAL. While this is a short book, it is NOT a light read. I will not forget this for a very long time. I could have put this in the 1800's category, or a book-that-I-can't-stop-thinking-about category.
