I'm in my very late 20s. ;) Married to a police officer, no kiddos yet, except for our two fur babies, Daisy and Luna. I work full-time as an Admissions/Program Coordinator for a Counseling Master's program at my Alma Mater. However, I want to be a librarian and am currently in school part-time to get my MS in Information and Library Science.
My favorite genre is historical fiction, however, since I want to be a librarian, I'm trying to expand and read more young adult, childrens, etc. I read CF and secular books, but definitely pay more attention to what I read in the general market.
I'm not sure that I'll be able to hit every book in the list, but I'll do as much as I can. :)

Welcome to the group Beth and Hope! I think even reading part of the challenge will be an encouragement!

I am 40 (ACK!), with 4 children (12-19) whom I homeschool. My oldest son was dx with autism when he was 3, but he is doing really well. My 17 year old son just got back from China where he spent 3 weeks on a missionary trip. He's hoping to go back in July. I also have a 14 year old son, and a 12 year old daughter. My daughter has a youtube channel where she translates Christian music into ASL praise.
My favorite genre was fiction - and I still like fiction. This year, my plan is to read mostly Christian non-fictional, however. However, I read myself to sleep at night, so those with be Chr Fiction books for the most part.
Can't wait to get to know everyone, and looking forward to the challenge. I may not be able to read every book, but I'm going to do all I can!

I hope it's a great reading year for you.

Right now I am currently reading:
An Arrow Pointing to Heaven
Experiencing God devotional
A Taste of Hot Apple Cider (stories to encourage and inspire)
At Your Request (Christian fiction bedtime book, unless I read the hot apple cider one lol)
I just finished
To Live is Christ
Love Does
And a couple christian fiction books.

My children made a 'bucket list' on New Years - and one thing they put on it was to read the bible through. So we decided to do a "bible in a year" reading plan. We all sit together as a family, read our scriptures aloud, discuss, etc. Then we have about an hour or so of 'quiet devotion time'. We can write/draw in our bible journals, pray, listen to worship music, or read a Christian living book. That's when I read To Live is Christ, and now Arrow Pointing to Heaven.
The others are either read at night, because I can't fall asleep without reading, or just randomly throughout the day when I grab a minute.
Songs of Heaven sounds interesting! I will have to look at that one. Thanks for the friend add, btw. :)
Welcome to Beth (who I've known a bit from Christian Fiction Devourers group), Hope and Jackie! I'm glad to see you all on here and encouraged to read "intentionally" this year!

I've always enjoyed reading and when I saw the list I was really happy! Looking forward to get to know you all and to enjoy reading together.
Welcome Henrieke! So glad you joined us! I went to Amsterdam a few years ago for a work trip. The only time I was overseas. Beautiful country! Amsterdam is rather liberal! Glad to see you on here for "intentional Christian reading"!

Henrieke wrote: "Thank you, Hope and Alina! And yes, Amsterdam is liberal. But even in the midst of Amsterdam there are Christians witnessing. Do you know about The Shelter? It's a youth hostel quite close to the R..."
That's good to hear! God is good,,,,,all the time!

Welcome Janine! So good to have you. Be sure to let us know how your "intentional" reading is going.

A small snippet of info about me: I'm 44 and live in Australia with my aunt and a menagerie of animals.
Hello everyone, Donna here. I discovered this group when I saw in my feed that my best friend joined, and thought this may be what I need to get me into my unread Christian books. I am a Catholic Christian, 51, married, and live in SW Missouri. My favorite genres are memoir/bio and literary fiction. Unfortunately, I'm a slow reader and write lousy book reviews, but I aim to improve the latter this year. I look forward to interacting with you all.

Thanks, Hope, you're very correct about reading good books carefully. It's easy for me to get hung up on numbers because ALL (not exaggerating) my friends read twice as many books as I do in a year. I don't know why it bothers me, it's silly, really -- reading is for ME. I'm having fun getting my reading list together. Will post soon. Thanks for the welcome.

I spend most of my reading time in the Bible and attendant commentaries and supplements. I write so much I don't take time to read. I hope engagement in this group will enhance my reading discipline. I look forward to learning the goodread ropes.

Welcome Eric and Jan! Glad you joined us and I'm glad this new flexible format of the challenge works with your reading styles.

My name is Trillion Small. I live in Dallas, TX (7 months now). I am a super duper book fan! I love reading them and writing them :-) I am an author of a few books. I just published my 3rd one on my birthday 1/24/2018. I am doing a super duper discount starting on super bowl Sunday 2/4/2018 for 99 cents on Amazon. It is faith based and really challenges us to be ALL that God designed us to be! Leaving no gifts wasted!
Looking forward to being intentional in reading with you all. Owning Possible: Your Guide to Making the Impossible Possible!

Trillion, The purpose of this group is to read and discuss books, not to do advertising.
However, some authors want to find new readers and we have no problem with that. Just keep in mind that everybody isn't interested and that spam is not authorized (posts will be deleted).
You can introduce your book in the Spotlight your book folder https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group... and creating a new topic for your book. Your book should be a Christian book though since that is the focus of this group.
Then, can you please delete this post from the introductions.
Thanks

I’ve just found this group, obviously due to joining a little late I’ll behind but I’m excited to of found you!
So far for 2018 books that I’ve read that I feel have helped me grow as a Christian are as follows;
1.) The Irresistible Revolution by Shane Claiborne
It was a heavy read for me and I took a lot of notes! Glad to of read it.
2.) Praise Habit: Finding God in Sunsets and Sushi by David Crowder.
This book was a great one and quite a bit lighter for me, the way he writes worked well with how my brain works!
The following are books I’m currently reading.
3.)* The Turquoise Table by Kristin Schell
I heard her speak on the Jen Hatmaker podcast and was enthralled by her idea of how to slow down and connect with your neighborhood and engage your community. I’m hoping to implement if not this idea, one similar to it in mine.
4.)* Love Does by Bob Goff
Oh my I’ve been taking notes chapter by chapter of this book. Bob Goff is my people, I’d love to meet him! I found him by way of the Jen Hatmaker podcast as well and just love his words.
** next book I’ll be buying is the follow up book by Bob Goff called, “Everybody, Always”
Thanks for letting my join, in just now learning the app and will be exploring the other topic threads and comments.
Happy Reading and Happy Summer.

this is my second year doing the Tim Challies Christian reading Challenge. It has expanded my reading horizons a lot! not everything on the list is Christian, but at least half the list is. So whether I do the light list(12 books a year) or the obsessed list(104 books a year), I'm getting a lot of Christian reading in.
I'm currently listening to Elyse Fitzpatrick's "Idols of the Heart."
20172018 52-week "Intentional" Christian Reading Challenge! I created this group because my friend told me she wanted to do "intentional" christian reading for the year. The Lord laid it on my heart to create a group for this type of challenge. I've never created a group before or been a moderator, so please bear with me as I try to do my best to make this a fun and learning/growth challenge.I love the Lord and I love to read! I hope this challenge will appeal to those who feel the same and want to grow closer to Christ. I am a 50-something wife to a loving husband, a mother to 3 daughters (ages
11-1712-18), and a software engineer in my real job. My favorite genre is probably historical christian fiction, although I love to read almost anything except smut or horror. My other favorite hobby is quilting. I will just say that I am Never bored!
