Something to say about our first pick of 2017 that can't wait until the hangout? You know what to do!

I may lose some geek-cred with a few of you, but I've neither read this before nor seen the film. Guess it's time to change that...

Craig | 7 comments I'll be interested to see if the LG crew and I agree on this book. Like, Aaron, I hadn't read the book or seen the movie before December. I knew the broad concepts and it sounded epic. No spoilers. I'll wait for the review hang-out.

Written in 1965.

Is anyone else concerned about all of the 'smart' devices being created now? Kitchen appliances so that you don't have to think about how to cook a frozen dinner. Cars so that you don't have to know how to drive or remember rules of the road.

It has been about 35 yrs (!!!!) since I read Dune. I know it's about a spice planet, but I've forgotten everything else it had to say. I'm glad it's a Literally Geeky pick.

Tiffany Scott (tjscott978) | 3 comments I know I've been away for a while. I am looking forward to rereading Dune. I remember it but I think it's melded into many other books.

"Thou shalt not make a machine in the likeness of a human mind."

We've definitely broken that rule.
