Welcome! This ongoing discussion is your place to share what you are reading and what you think about it! It's fun to see what other people are reading in the community... plus you might discover a new book to read!

Stephanie Reading Champion by Marie Lu, #3 in the her Legend series. It's young adult but so good! If you liked the Hunger Games, pick up this similar dystopian read!
Champion

Ashley Rosenbaum | 1 comments About to start the second book in The Maze Runner series. The first book was a little slow but picked up half way through the book. Hoping the second one is not too slow.

Melanie | 212 comments Runner's World Complete Book of Women's Running: The Best Advice to Get Started, Stay Motivated, Lose Weight, Run Injury-Free, Be Safe, and Train for Any Distance is what I just finished. I would like to get out and run right now, but it's raining and I'm still a bit sore from knee boarding over the weekend.

Melanie | 212 comments I listened to Maggie Gyllenhaal perform The Bell Jar on my drive to and from Tablerock Lake. I had never read this book, but think she does a great job of capturing Esther.

Yeah, rain ruined my plans to run as well. If it keeps up maybe we'll have to take up swimming instead, LOL

I'm reading (listening to) The Eighty-Dollar Champion: Snowman, the Horse That Inspired a Nation

It's great! A true story about a man who buys a horse that was going to go to the kill lot for $80 and amazing things happen. The audiobook version is narrated by Bronson Pinchot who is doing an amazing job, especially when he's called upon to give the person speaking an accent. And it's also a little look at the history of horses in the US and what life was like in the late 1950's.

Melanie | 212 comments The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven is a selected reading for a book club that I lead. This is not a book I would normally pick up just because I'm not huge into the Native American scene, but I'm enjoying this in a depressing way. It is a collection of short stories and I just ended with a character committing suicide. I've read where there are many schools using this book and that surprises me.

Finally finished reading the first four books of the Fire and Ice series. I enjoyed them. There is a little more sexual content for my taste, but fits with the story I guess. There are a lot of characters that I would love to kill off. And they did. Getting ready to read book 5. Dance With Dragons. Good stories if you like Medieval times.

I've enjoyed the Game of Thrones series. I know about Season 3 the books and the series stray. I'm planning on taking the first one with me as I travel to London in a couple of weeks.

Melanie | 212 comments Bourbon: A History of the American Spirit was an intersting book. I'm not a Bourbon drinker, but enjoyed seeing how it has helped shape America. I was waiting in line at the movie dispenser and saw it on the new non-fiction shelf. I had Mint Juleps on my mind after watching the Kentucky Derby.

Hope you get a chance to read the book. Enjoy your trip to London. I have never been there.

Melanie | 212 comments A friend loaned me this book: Brit-Think, Ameri-Think: A Transatlantic Survival Guide. It is aimed at someone that is living or doing business for an extended period of time. It was suppose to be funny - I get British comedy but found this book only to bring a few chuckles.

Melanie | 212 comments Just finished Fahrenheit 451 this morning. I'm now waiting at KCI to board a flight to Chicago with a layover to London. I brought The Complete Sherlock Holmes Volume 1 with me, and The Game of Thrones to read on the flights.
