Hey Jenn PP,
Penni and I wanted to read book 5.5 and 5.9 in June

and then this one Striking Distance in July.\
See post of discussion:June I-team read

I'm out of town and didn't download this one
So it will be end of the month reading but you gave me great news Trea!
Whew - then I still have a chance LOL
I've gotten, after a huge fight with my kindle, First Strike down and will read that this week. Then start Striking Distance. I read so much more slowly, that way I might actually finish closer to when you do.
Glad you liked it Trea! I hope it sounds good. I've read just the author intro to First Strike so far. Sounds like she's chosen another good topic to address here.

Have a safe trip! I'm glad I was able to help!

I wasn't entirely sure what topic she was going to address with how First Strike turned out. Going back and reading my comments in the First Strike thread, I had a problem connecting with the hero and heroine in that story, but when I got into Striking Distance, I was able to connect very easily with Laura and her situation, probably because we get more background on her and are able to see how she copes with everything that has happened. This was a difficult topic to address, but it was done with such, for lack of a better term, grace, that it was very easy to be moved by Laura and Javier.
I hope you and Ezi both enjoy it as much as I did, Penni!
Hey Ezi -
I finished First Strike and am about 1/3rd through Striking Distance. Are you going to be starting soon? Or have you already?
It is not on audio for me, so I knew it would be slow to get it read, so I got an early start.
Trea - I am enjoying it so far. I am a little confused though on the timing of events (deployments/injuries) for Nate and Javiar.

And she never really goes into the timing either, so I'm not exactly certain where it all falls out. It didn't bug me so much, so I just ignored it.

Nope, I was planning to wait until Saturday and use it for my Spell out (Wheel-athon challenge). "I" in scarce, more scarce than E and O in my opinion.

Sounds good. I most certainly won't be done before the end of the weekend.

So here I go right now

Also, all the I-team reporters carry heavy baggage, huh?
LOL - yes they all carry heavy baggage, and they all have to be the focal point of an assassination attempt :-)
The reporter perspective of these books bothered me - especially in the begining books. The being above the law and no lines are above being crossed. I get that it's important to have the truth, but sometimes I don't like where they go to get it.

Kidnapping and forcible rape by terrorists? hurts my stomach
Did you read the novella first? I knew it was going to be from her dedication. If you read the novella, make sure to read the dedication and the author's forward. It is interesting.

For now! Ms. Clare has stated that there will be a few more books in the series, but nothing on the horizon so far due to her health issues.
Great series read y'all!
It was! I wouldn't have been motivated to read the rest of the series as fast as I had if we hadn't been reading it for a series read!

Discovering it will be the most dangerous move of her life.
TV reporter Laura Nilsson, known as the "Baghdad Babe," spent eighteen months in an Al Qaeda compound after being kidnapped live on the air. Two years later, she's still wondering why.
No rescue mission in Javier Corbray's fourteen years as a Navy SEAL affected him the way Laura's rescue did. No woman has stirred his protective instincts the way she has. And he wants her more than he's ever wanted anyone.
As Laura and Javier's passion ignites, so does Laura's need to discover the mystery of her past. Especially when she learns that her abduction was not random—and that she's still a target for a killer with an impenetrable motive. Now Javier will have to rely on his skills to keep the woman he loves from being struck down before she dares uncover the truth.(less)
