Chris Coleman | 4 comments I'm reading To Kill a Mockingbird as my classic novel selection. I've read 15 chapters so far (I will finish it) and fairly unimpressed by it. I mean, it's ok...but it doesn't seem to be the "masterpiece of American literature" that many claim it to be. Anyone else who has read it feel the same?

AlegnaB † (alegnab) I didn't care for it. Here's what I wrote for my GR review of it:

"I listened to an eaudio of this book. It was so boring that I had a hard time paying attention to it. I stopped in chapter 12 and skipped to the chapters of the trial. Those few chapters were interesting, but the book quickly got boring again after the trial, so I gave up on it."

Nelleke Plouffe | 11 comments I read it last year, and it was in my top ten books of the year. I thought the characters were drawn so well, and I found the story very compelling. I may have read it in one day, and afterwards recommended it to all my sisters and anyone I knew who hadn't read it before! To each his own, I guess. :)

Chris Coleman | 4 comments I just finished moments ago.

Still largely unimpressed by this work. I was hoping for it to live up to its hype. Idk...maybe this just isn't my genre, author, etc. As someone who doesn't read much fiction (but wants to) the search continues to find something that i like.

Jan | 12 comments TKAM is one of my all time favorites! (Go Set a Watchman on the other hand did nothing for me.) But as Nelleke said above, to each his own. =D

AlegnaB † (alegnab) Chris, more than 58,000 people gave it one star, and almost 113,000 gave it two stars, so there are a lot of people who were not impressed by the book.
