I wanted to just share this little tidbit because it's been there forever and I never knew until now and it might be helpful to others.
If someone has a large lending shelf and you don't want to go through the whole thing to see if books you want to read are there you can compare book shelves. All you need to do is go to their profile page and click compare books (for those who do not know where that hyperlink is - it's under their profile to the right of the add friend button). Then on the right of the page you will see an option to compare shelves. You can select your to-read list and under their's you can select their lending shelf and it will show if any books are in common.
Also, at the bottom they will give you books (within that shelf) that that person gave high reviews to so if you're looking for something new that is helpful too.
I know some already know this but others may not so for those who didn't know - happy book hunting :)
