I'm starting this now. Still have some work to do, but I can read a chunk before.

17 % - (view spoiler)[This is my first time reading this book in english, last time I read it in german. I remember that I had so many quotes highlighted in this book and I still think the wording is so beautiful and there are some really great quotes in this book. (hide spoiler)]

57 % - (view spoiler)[Kinda forgot the time while reading. :D I still really like this book. It's very philosophical. I'm writing down so many good quotes. Something that bothers me a little is the whole religious thing. (hide spoiler)]

76 % - (view spoiler)[The pyramids are near and not the boy and the alchemist have been taken hostage by tribesmen in the dessert. I was wondering if something like that would happen, because there's still some story left to be told. (hide spoiler)]

100 % - (view spoiler)[Books with religious influences aren't really my cup of tea. Apart from that I liked the philosophical influences. The Alchemist is not a story-driven book, but that's its charme. (hide spoiler)]

I agree Julie!! There are so many important lines/sayings in this book! This is also my first time reading this, so I had no idea what to expect. I think I'll have to re-read this...I have a feeling there is a symbolism and important things to catch that I might miss the first time through.

I was also a bit surprised with the religious background/setting. (view spoiler)[ My best friend gave this to me in college, and he is not a religious person at all, but he said it changed his life, so I'm very much looking forward to reading this end of this. I want to know what it was that stuck out to him because it wouldn't have been a religious symbol or message...

I'm enjoying this, but I'm having a hard time with some of the writing. :/ I'm in a bit of a slump with everything going on around the world, that I'm having a tough time focusing on the books I'm reading right now. (hide spoiler)]

Finished- (view spoiler)[ I loved the message in this book! However, I didn't love the book. I loved some of the quotes, the beautiful writing, and the message was very good, but for some reason this just wasn't my type of book. I found it too be a bit boring, and maybe even a little too deep for my type of "reading for enjoyment." I might need to try it again in the future now that I know what it's all about.
