Lanelle | 4024 comments I'm going to change this thread to our chosen team name.

How is everyone's gophering going?
Is anyone focusing on the holidays that get extra points?

message 23: by Annerlee (new)

Annerlee | 2872 comments I'm planning to go for the extra points first. I've not decided on any books yet though.

message 24: by Annerlee (last edited Feb 13, 2017 07:48AM) (new)

Annerlee | 2872 comments Just checked... I think I can do:

Hate romance (need to find something shortish...)

Oscar night : thinking One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest which will double for my hospital choice in the annual challenge.

National Pizza: Food and eating pizza. Easy

Flirting week: a free 5 points!

Snark: My snark idea is also my romance book.. but we're not allowed to double categories for one title (shame). I'll look through my ebook library to see if I can find anything else.

American Pie... I may struggle to come up with a convincing argument for a book. I'll need to think about this one. Somethng about Rolling Stones / horror for verse 5?

My issue will be finding books that aren't all 300 pages plus.

Anyone else going for the extra points?

Roz | 4535 comments I think I have a Children's book (Newberry Award). Does When You Reach Me qualify?

Lanelle | 4024 comments Roz wrote: "I think I have a Children's book (Newberry Award). Does When You Reach Me qualify?"

It does. I actually have it on my list of possibilities for this Toppler.

message 27: by Ava Catherine (last edited Feb 13, 2017 01:56PM) (new)

Ava Catherine | 4258 comments Hi, team! I have just started looking at the list and thinking about possible books.
I could read Bridge to Terabithia as a Newberry Winner 5 extra pts. - National Children's Dental Health Month
and
Thank a Mailman: Swimming Lessons
Black History Month: The House Girl (a maybe)
Romance: can read one and earn extra points because I don't read romances-avoid them unless they are classics.
Maybe: Love Your Pet Day and National Weddings Month
I'll gopher some more and come up with a more specific list of books.
I'm just not good with sci-fi or vampires and zombies.

message 28: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments I have four or five books lined up that I might be able to finish. I have at least one for the movies and one Newbery Award, maybe two. I left my list at work on Friday and I am off today.

Annerlee | 2872 comments My snark title was

The Other Duke (The Notorious Flynns, #1) by Jess Michaels

... but I don't think I can bring myself to read it. My toes curl and my teeth stand on edge just thinking about it. Not my taste at all. (And there are FIVE in the series)
Apologies to anyone who loves this genre BTW and especially to the author... sorry Jess
