My something good is that I thought I'd used up all my holidays from work until they reset in April, but my boss came up to me and said I'm going to have to take a week off at the end of March because I have some left over :D
That's a full week of writing for me, yay! I can't wait.

message 6: by Kim (new)

Kim Padgett-Clarke | 13 comments My good news is that my author interview has just been published with Indie Publishing Group. It was fun to do and it looks great. Any publicity for us indies is so valuable. Fantastic website as well.

Can I gush? I hope you don't mind, but I am so proud of my son- this was in my email from Kirkus Review for his book The History Major.

"As the year carrries on, we’re looking back at some of our most successful and positive Indie Reviews…that’s YOU! The History Major received our coveted Recommended Review, I wanted to let you know that we have launched a special promotion to get even more attention to your book."

I sell books with a little help from my friends...it's an old Beatles song, slightly tweaked.

message 22: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments I will join in as soon as I have something more exciting to report than I sold one book this month. Until then-I sold one book this month. (moans to self and wanders off to cook dinner.)

Congratulations to everyone.

message 23: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments Alex wrote: "Congrats on the sale Amy, it might only be 1 but there are people who would kill for that, and 1 is just the start. It takes time, but sales will grow as time passes. In the interim, celebrate ever..."

Oooooh I've got one. Smashwords is going to pay me $1.36 this month that's on top of the one sale from KDP!

message 24: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments Laughs so hard she gets a stitch...

message 25: by Carole (new)

Carole P. Roman | 4665 comments Mod
That's great- not the stitch the $ 1.36.

message 28: by Groovy (last edited Feb 23, 2017 11:47AM) (new)

Groovy Lee Congratulations, Everyone!

Amy, which is better, 0 or 1? Congratulations!!! That means somebody was interested enough to purchase your hard work. When I get one sale, I'm smiling all day. (I know, it can sound pathetic) But it's something:)

I have a question: It seems I only get downloads from US and UK. How can I get them like Alex from the other countries. It's so frustrating.

Oh--for those of you who write horror and dark fantasy, this magazine is open for submission. Just thought you'd like to know:

message 29: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments I'm in the UK and am apparently available pretty much everywhere. I don't know how it works either there's just a long list of Amazon markets that I've been put on. Or maybe I just ticked everything.

message 30: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments Oh sales. Sorry. Thought we were talking about being able to download for ourselves. Got no clue about sales. I get one a month on average. If I was to give it away for free an average of two a month. No clue.

message 31: by Groovy (new)

Groovy Lee I get it. As an Amazon author, I'm already there, I'm just not selling. Amazon makes you think they're all on the same level.

message 32: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments I want to know how you get listed on lists. I looked up erotic fiction authors the other day on Amazon in alphabetical order and I wasn't there. Now I could have been looking at a default "published in the last 30 days" list so I wouldn't be there but I didn't think I was. I thought I was looking at everything. I was missing. I was sad...lol

message 33: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Peacock-Smith | 9 comments Hi girls. I love all your something good happened stories. I got 6 new likes on my Fb author page this week, half of them might be you lot lol but it is still numbers! I also saw my interviews on some of your sites and that was really cool too! Nice to see someone promote me that isn't me

message 34: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments That's a great point Jennifer, well done. I also got some likes on my author page too. Some from here some from existing FB friends and some from random strangers who I'm sure aren't as random as me.

Alexis | 861 comments Carole, you have to tell us the backstory. How did you manage to get on Forbes.com? Wow - I'm so impressed. :D I think that one of the reason we get along so well is because you remind me of my mom. Not because of your age, you ladies are ageless lol, but just the fact that you are both the type of women with that DRIVE, you know? You know what you want and you go for it. It's very inspiring. Congratulations on another milestone!

Way to go Carol! That's awesome. Congrats on everyone else's good news as well. A big congrats to Amy with your sales. I am in the same boat as you right now so understand how exciting a 1 or 2 books a month sales is. My something good is that book 4 just came back from the editor! Now time to put words with pictures and send off for a proof.

I love TULIPS- they just showed up!! I couldn't wait for you see it, Alexis!! It's FORBES!!!!! You remember I did something for Amazon and KDP- the Roundtable and the videos? The publicist from Amazon was asked by Forbes if they had someone "interesting" in my age group to interview. She wrote and asked if I wanted to do it. It took me about a second to say yes. We had a family meeting and decided it was time. I knew I would have to reveal my real life for them. So, now you all know how the books are getting into the right hands at the award shows lol. It's called networking. I am honored to be in your mother's category. Thank you.

PS I purchased a link for our web page to the radio show too! This way every time it airs, the webpage will show up. ( which will showcase all of our books) ;)

Thank you too Amy, Kay, Erica and Alex- I was nervous about revealing my private self- but I'm happy I shared this with you all, my Goodreads family.

So exciting. This is FORBES. Like are you kidding me, lol? You need to print the article out and hang it up. But that just goes to show how one little thing can lead to another and then another and then to even bigger things. Very very cool. :D

Oh I just realized something. When people google your name and you're radio show, they will see the ad for NavigatingIndieworld! Which means more exposure for other indie authors too! This calls for chocolate cake. (I was going to go buy cake anyways but this is an even better reason to indulge, lol.)

I don't know why you'd be nervous. Only be nervous if you've previously hidden a body! Doesn't sound like you have.

I'd like to hide mine!!! (body) Ugh the picture taking, but I can't resist ice-cream.

Thanks RL thinking on it. In my life I never thought I be the poster person for seniors, hahah. I don't mind though. Thanks Erica but it took a village to build make this grandma a success. I couldn't have done it without the support of my hubby and family.

I will tell you a funny story. Once- about thirty years ago we were very up and coming. There was a meeting of all the heads of production from the studios. They have these meeting pretty often. One called me and said- You were the subject at the last meeting.
This is to show you how my mind works. She said they were discussing how successful I was.
There was a second of silence and I responded- Yeah, the kids came out just great. I'm so proud of them.
She was quiet and replied- we were talking about the business. I got red in the face and said- yeah that turned out pretty good too!"
