Please keep all discussion and speculation to the events of Part 1 (Prologue).

No spoiler tags required. Though it would be highly appreciated if you Uncheck Add to my Update Feed to avoid accidentally spoiling this for your good read friends.

Please do not discuss events from later chapters/books. Referring back to events from a previous section/book is fine.

Bill | 1596 comments Still working through the prologue but the main theme seems to be yet more division in every group.

Bunch of guys I've never heard of before are getting together to drive the Seanchan out of Arad Doman and Tarabon.

The traitors who killed the old commander of the White Cloaks are now seemingly plotting against each other.

Logain's bonded Aes Sedai are noticing some rivalries in the Black Tower.

The White Tower Aes Sedai are still planning and working on how to discover all the Black Ajah in the tower and how to defat them. Might also have discovered collusion amongst the heads of the ajahs to place agreed upon sisters in the sitters hall.

Bill | 1596 comments Gawyn suspects Elaida wants him and the younglings dead. Seems like the rest of his gang haven't caught on. Last he saw of Egwene was when she was summoned to become the Amyrlin of the rebels right?

Bashere is caught in a tough situation and his wife getting attacked is leading him to accept a proposal from a mystery man.

Dobraine is attacked and almost killed to get a mystery item. He is saved by the Aes Sedai left in charge. Loaial and Karldin return just in time for it all to happen. What side of the Ashaman/Rand fight is he on? Logain shows up at the end. What has made him show up in Cairhien?

I was mostly uninterested in anything happening in the prologue, except maybe for the very end where Loial shows back up, and Dobraine nearly dies.

I am a bit curious what Logain is up to as well.

The part with the investigation of Dark Friends was really interesting in the last two books, but I felt like the part here was just a bunch of talk with nothing really happening.

That's kind of the theme of this book from what I remember. A lot of talk and description of things, and very little plot development.

I'm hoping I'll enjoy this one more on my reread than I did on the first time through, but i'm not optimistic so far.

Bill | 1596 comments Yup lots of talk so far. A prologue really shouldn't be almost 15% of a book either imho.

Haha. This series is notorious for monster prologues. I think the final books prologue was released early as a stand alone. Of course that one was written by Sanderson and not Jordan.

Sumant | 522 comments The first prologue introduced to us a complete new character called as wolf who is trying to overthrow the seanchan with help from maesema's followers but he is just using them and hoping that maesema's followers are killed.

In black tower the captured aes sedai are trying to manipulate factions.

I too bored to listen to Gawyn's pov at least mr right is interesting but his brother is too boring.

Where did we last met Dobraine ?

I think last we saw Dobraine Rand had left him in charge as Steward of Cairhienin. I forget what book that was though. Some point after he was rescued from the sisters of the White Tower.

Bill | 1596 comments I think it was only in the last book.
