It happens to all of us at some point or another. We die. In truth, it was something that Mackenzie had grown to accept, that one day Death would swing his scythe at her, and she wouldn’t be able to dodge him again. There had been so many times already that she’d defied him his reaping; there was no doubt in her mind that he’d get his blade in her sooner rather than later. She’d accepted that. One day she would die. But she sure as hell didn’t plan on sitting back and making his job easy.

When the minds falls to darkness and Death nears, everyone’s experience is different—or so Enzi assumed. The girl stood in the blackness of her mind, her subconscious projecting her into a dream like state; some may say it was more than that, try claiming that it was her soul in the void, and she was in-between the living and dead—a limbo of sorts. It didn’t matter who was right, not to her at least. The facts remained the same. She was in the dark, and there was nothing she could do but wonder endlessly.

This had happened a time or two before, actually, and each time she wondered the black in hopes of finding something, anything. She always managed to, finding something to cling to during her time of need. But this time, there seemed to be nothing. No foothold to step into, nor a handle to grip to. There was nothing tying her down anymore. Maybe she’d given up without realizing? Maybe she’d lost hope—no, lost her determination, her drive...maybe she’d just lost. Maybe it had to do with the fact the last ‘family’ she held in the world was ‘gone’ now, that in that moment she’d lost any reason to push onward. That was it, wasn’t it? The latter. It had to be. Because there was no way she’d ever do the others...not her. Never her.

The girl was not a quitter, never a quitter, but everyone dies at some point. Everyone, no matter how hard they fought, would die. That was something to feel better about, wasn’t it? That there were times where there was nothing one could do to stay alive. So if she died now, it wasn’t her fault, right? Because, ya know, everyone dies.

It was an excuse, something to make her feel better about herself and the fact that she was doing the exact thing she’d sworn to never do: give up. No—not her...never her.

Still, there was nothing but darkness as she looked around. Not her..never her. A feeling of dread started to crawl across her skin, realization trying to scratch and claw it’s way into her. Again she whipped her head around, desperation beginning to claim her as it’s victim. There had to be something, had to be anything! Because there was no way she’d given up. There was no way was letting go—not now...not her.

It was said that the mind could decide the fate of the body, that the mind was so powerful that it could shut down organs and kill someone. On the flip side, the mind could kept someone tied to life, that a person could survive the impossible all because they simply wouldn’t let go, simply because they would not give up. So where the fuck was her foothold?! Her hand grip?! Her mind’s way of tying her to life rather than letting her die?! Because there was no way she’d given up. Not her...never her.

But still, there was nothing but darkness.

She stopped looking, the dread having disappaited as realization managed to get to her. Maybe she had… And that, that simple fact, was more disappointing and enraging than anything. If there was one thing she’d sworn, it was to never give up. To never stop pushing back. And here she was, doing just that—or at least the deepest parts of her subconscious was. It had to be because of him, because of Will, because of her last ‘family’ having been lost in a way. That was the only thing that changed since the last time she’d been face to face with Death and his scythe. He was the only thing that had made her hesitate, that’d made her falter, that’d made her slip up. He was the only thing she cared about besides rectifying the injustice brought upon her family. He was the reason she’d given up, he must have been.

So she’d die not knowing who she hated more: herself for giving up, or Will for being the one that made her.

In the midst of the darkness, in the midst of acceptance that she’d find nothing to save her this time, in the midst of dying, a whisper split the silence. ”You better stay with me.” It was a demand. In the distance, a light began to shine, and relief mixed with anxiousness began to flood her system.

Not her...never her.

-

Eyes opening, a blinding ‘soft white light’ stung her pupils, causing spots to cloud her vision as she tried to look around. Enzi knew she was on her back, could hear voices around her but not make out the words, and could tell she was moving. Blinking again, she managed to get rid of enough spots to see the faces of those pushing her along. Where was she? What had happened?

That’s right—she’d been shot, right? She was dying in an alley somewhere, and now she was…where? Trying to look around more, Enzi managed to catch the attention of one of the people over her. The woman’s gray eyes locked to Enzi’s. The woman’s lips moved, and Enzi heard the ups and lows of the words, but Mackenzie couldn’t manage to make out what the woman was saying.

She felt dazed, as if this was still a dream, though she knew it wasn’t. How’d she get there from where she’d been shot? It didn’t make sense. Another blink, and things started to dim again. But this time, Enzi wasn’t slipping into limbo, instead it felt more as if she were simply falling asleep.

-

Again, her eyes came open, the dazed and lifeless feeling she had had previously having been replaced with a soreness that ached across her body. Attempting to sit up, Enzi sucked in a quick breath to knock back the pain and keep pushing herself upright. She was on a bed, that much she knew, and as she got a quick look of the room, she knew it wasn’t the same place she’d woken up in however long ago it had been.

Clinching her teeth together, Enzi pulled her legs off the edge of the bed and sit at it’s edge, preparing herself to stand. As she started to do so, however, a hand caught her shoulder and pushed her back to her butt. Her gaze went up immediately, landing on Will. Something didn’t make sense—no, nothing really made sense. “What happened?” the words came out her mouth before she could do anything about it.

The doctor's body fell limp and Will reacted quickly to support her so that she wouldn't crumble down to the floor. He had applied enough pressure to her throat that her blood supply would stop going to her brain and would render her unconscious. He brought her carefully over to the cabinets at the side of the wall that the door was on, and took off her lab coat as well as her ID tag. He quickly put the lab coat on and tucked the id in his pocket to hide to image of the doctor, Will looked down to read the ID and saw Dr. Emma Tullen printed on the card right below her image.

William had looked around the room previously, the moment he had gotten in he spotted a wheelchair that was folded up on the other side of the room. Will pulled it out and brought it next to the bed that Enzi was laying on and then carefully took out the ivs and equipment that was connected to Enzi that would monitor her vitals. Once he had finished he lifted her off of the bed and set her in the wheelchair. He placed her in a way that didn’t make it too obvious that she was still not fully awake yet and was merely relaxing.

Will stared at the door that led to the hallway and in a couple of seconds Will mentally pictured the route he would take to get them both out of here. Normally, he was very calm about the situation, in missions he had been in before he could escape a building easily without drawing attention to himself and risking getting caught. But he had been alone all those times before or with others that he didn't care whether they lived or died just as long as the mission was complete. Up to a point, Will didn’t care about his life eaither but now, everything had changed due to Enzi. He, at this moment, was responsible for both of them and it was up to his ability whether they got out or not.

Will pushed the door open and casually walked out of the room, heading straight for the elevator. He didn't know how long he had before someone found Dr.Tullen's body on the floor or until he ran into someone like that cop he had seen earlier. The elevator door pinged open and Will calmly got in with Emma, thankfully there wasn’t a lot of movement this late in the night and no one accompanied him in the elevator. He pinged the elevator to the first floor where he would get off and make their final way to the front door.

It wouldn’t be done as easily as he said it, if it had been daytime then he might get away with taking a patient out for a stroll around the front courtyard for some air. But taking a patient out in the middle of the night seemed rather odd. Nonetheless, Will didn’t have any other option, that was the only way in and out of the hospital.

Will made sure to keep his head down the entire time, he knew that surveillance cameras were all around this place and he didn't want the people watching them to notice that he wasn't one of the doctors that they normally saw walking these halls. The door slid open and Will made sure not to quicken his pace but then he saw two men in scrubs walking in his direction and Will turned around, heading away from the entrance. He saw that he was going in another direction, emergency drop off where the ambulence had a side entrance that was mainly used for more urgent cases so that vehicles didn't have to fight their way into the front with everyone who normally walked in and out.

Thankfully, no one was there at the moment except for one woman talking to someone on the phone. She glanced up as she heard someone coming but by the sound of it, it seemed like she was in a heated arguement and hardly cared for anyone passing her way. Will nodded slightly to the women and continued on his way out the sliding doors, the sound of her voice trailed farther away as Will wheeled the chair to the side of the building. He stopped, picked up Enzi so that she was on his back, arms over his shoulders and he held onto her legs to make sure he supported her.

He needed to get MacKenzie to a place that was remotely comfortable and that no one would take a second glance at two people staying in a room together, no matter what they appeared like. Will made his way to a Motel, and booked a room for them, he didn't bring Enzi in when he had asked for the keys and only said that he was the only occupant in case cops went looking around for one male and female who had come in to book a room that night. If Enzi were in normal clothes he could have passed her off as being drunk and out of it, but she was wearing hospital clothing and that would be too suspicious, especially if people asked questions.

He walked into the room that was designated for them, and immediately closed the door behind him. He turned around and sat in the bed, letting Enzi's body slide onto the bed in the most delicate manner he could muster. He layed her down comfortably, moved a blanket on her and made sure the pillow was supprting her head. Will looked down at Enzi, he was finally able to look at her without them constantly trying to fight each other. She looked the same but different all at the same time since he had last seen her three years ago. Her lips were curved slightly, her cheeks a little thiner than what he remembered and her hair still long with that dark color. She was beautiful, he remembered that much, it was something he had first thought when they had been introduced at the military base.

So what are you going to do now Will? There was an old clock that ticked menacingly at Will's silence as he leaned back against the wooden walls. He had originally hoped that he could make contact with Enzi, inform her of his intentions and quickly leave back to base so he could inform his supervisor. But, he had been gone too long, out of contact with the unit and in possible danger of being hunted himseld if they suspected him of helping Enzi. Of course, they had already suspected he would do so, there was no way of tricking them, of tricking the agency. Will had been foolish to request the mission but his better judgement had disappeared at the mention of Enzi's whereabouts.

Will looked up at the time, he couldn't stay here, he needed to finish a couple of things before he could calm his mind. Will looked over at the doctor's lab coat that hung over a chair and decided he wouldn't be needing that this time. He pulled the ID card out and put it in the pocket of his pants and took one last look at Enzi before heading out. Hopefully he would make it back in time before she woke up, that surely wouldn't go too well.

----------

Rain was pouring down steadily as Will made his way back to the motel. The rain was starting to soak through his shirt and Will quickened his pace once he reached the parking lot of the motel. He climbed up the stairs, and slid the card into the slot of the door to open the door to the room where he hoped Enzi would still be. He smiled, seeing her there and made notice of the rise and fall of her body to signify that she was still breathing normally. Will took off his wet squishy shoes and then swung the bag he had acquired over his head and began to take out an iv bag as well as additional items that he snagged from his second trip to the hospital.

He was starting to tie up the bag to the bed's headboard when he heard Enzi stir awake. She was quick to get up, no doubt her sudden realization that she was in a strange place. She called out to him with such confusion and Will rushed t make sure that she stayed seated on the bed. "Careful, you just got out of surgery a few hours ago," he cautioned her, "I took you there after you had gotten shot, but don't worry this janitor gettup I have on helped us clean up our tracks."

Will tried his best to smile but he wasn't being playful or funny, just trying to let her know that it wasn't a tense situation anymore. He continued to settup the iv fluids as soon as he made sure she wasn’t going to try to get up a second time. "How are you feeling, are you hurting anywhere? You"ll probably need this for now so that you can get your strength back sooner."

Surgery? Ah, well yes...that would explain the white walls, ceilings, and gathering of people who’d been pushing her along she’d seen during her in and out phase. She’d been in a hospital. But that didn’t make sense. There’d been a guy shooting her, one of their men. How’d she get from an alley, being gunned down by that guy, to a hospital with Will? Where’d the guy go because it’s not like he’d just let Will take her to get fixed up nice and pretty again. No, he’d have taken her straight to some bunker or location to wait to hear his next orders.

The only way Will would have gotten her to a hospital would be to go through her attacker, in the literal sense. The girl’s shoulders fell a bit, staying still on the bed long enough that Will moved his hand from her and went back to playing with some fluid bags at the head of the bed. Had he? Had he went through her attacker? Had Will actually killed the guy?

Even if he had, it could very well be a play, another move, in order to gain her trust. Maybe it was done just so she would start to think he was on her side, so she would answer questions, open up, and lean on him more. Maybe that’s what they wanted, what they told Will to do, knowing very well she would never speak a word to them if they caught her; even through hell or high water, she’d keep that mouth of hers shut tight. But if someone she trusted asked her questions...she’d be bound to answer eventually, right? And considering the shots taken on her were both clean, straight through wounds, it seemed like they really wanted her alive. No other reason to keep her alive if not to question.

It was a great plan, a fantastic one, even, which is why she couldn’t help but believe it was a high possibility. The only factor that made her unsure was Will. He was the only variable that Enzi could not properly factor in. He was a wild card. Either he had turned on her, and he was a part of their plan, or he was, in fact, on her side and strayed from the order’s command to help her, killing one of their guys in the process. Or maybe it was some sort of mixture of the two. The fuck if she knew. And that’s probably exactly what they wanted, for her to be confused.

A variable this unknown, unpredictable, and this close to her, it was unnerving. It was dangerous. Therefore, Will was dangerous. Get rid of the variable, make the equation simple again. It would be easier that way—in fact, it was probably the best thing to do. But...but what if he was on her side? What if she got rid of the only person left that she’d considered family? What if...what if he wasn’t her family anymore, though?

Was this really the time to take risks, to take chances? It was annoying, trying to pin down what she needed to do, trying to decide what move was best. What would Dad do? a voice inside asked, managing to silence all the ‘what ifs’ and questions besides that one.

What would he do?

”The only ones capable of hurting us are those we love, but just the same, the ones we love are the only ones worth living for, worth fighting for, worth dying for.” That’s what he would have said—or had he actually said that before? The voice in her head sounded so much like him, stringing the sentence together perfectly, that maybe he had told her that once upon a time. It hurt that Enzi couldn’t recall if it was a real statement or one she just knew he’d say. Forgetting the small things always hurt. ”So he could hurt you, sweetheart, or he could be here for you. But regardless, he is family. We have to trust family.

Her eyes stated on Will, vaguely hearing him explain that their tracks were covered and they were safe for the time being. She offered no response, remaining quiet, her mind still contemplating if he was trustworthy—no, contemplating if he was still family. If he was, she’d have no choice but to trust him; Daddy’s instructions and all.

For a moment her nose crinkled a bit, the edge of her lips dipping into a scowl, when he asked how she was feeling and that she’d need her fluids to get back on her feet faster. She shook her head and looked around the room as she reminded, “This isn’t my first rodeo. Been shot plenty of times, much worse than this.” Her eyes cut back to him. “I’m fine.” She could feel the coarseness to her words, the edge. It wasn’t intentional—or maybe it was.

She went quiet for a moment. Taking in a deep breath she looked from him and to her feet that just reached the floor from over the edge of the bed. “So what do you want?” Gaze again drifted to him with the slight turn of her head. It was a vague question, but was the biggest one. What did Will want. What was his motive for being her, for ‘helping’ her—what did he have to gain from all of this? Why had he tracked her down? Why was he here?

There had been a time of silence that followed as Will set up the IV bag properly. But, he wasn't bothered by it, he knew that there would be a lot that needed to be taken in right now. There would be time for talk, time to understand and through all this, they each needed to sort out three years or more of what had happened.

He knew it wouldn't be easy, things like this never were when it came to expressing one's own emotions and thoughts. The thought process of the mind was fast and ever changing, if there was only some way that she could tap into his brain and see everything. Will stopped himself right there, because there were certain things he didn't want her to know. He would let her know what was needed, and that would be all. She didn't need to know every detail, every face or name that had been at the end point of the barrel of his gun.

Will turned over to her, pulling the cord long enough to be able to reach Enzi comfortably. Without asking, he grabbed her right hand, found a good vein and put the needle in so that it could begin its intended work. It pained him to hear that she had been through so much, he shouldn't be this emotionally attached but it was due to his responsibility he had put on himself.

He knew that she was more than capable of taking care of herself, hadn’t her father reminded him of it countless of times. She would wander off by herself, join the other soldiers for a game of cards and yet, Will wanted to make sure she didn't fall into harms way. Yet, Commander Harth knew his daughter, he knew he couldn't stop her from doing what she wanted but he also trusted her and believed in her.

Will had to do the same, he couldn't cradle her, there was no point in putting a big brother face on like he had grown accustomed to in the past. He only wished he could talk her out of putting herself in harms way but she didn't do this to herself. He very well knew that she had been dragged in, despite her own will.

He returned back to the bag he had brought in and took out a couple of more medical tools, his suit he had worn earlier, water bottles and some bread. He looked at the last item in the bag, the gun he had retrieved that was hidden behind a dumpster that he had put there before they had first walked into the hospital. Will decided to leave that in there and zipped up the bag, knowing well that Enzi had used that gun on him before.

"I want you to be out of harms way from the agency who is after you, they go by the name of Access. Their entire goal is all in the name, they obtain, examine and retrieve everything that is ordered of them." Will moved to the bathroom that was connected to their room and pulled out the hand towel. He walked back to MacKenzie as he dried his hair that had gotten wet due to the rain. "You, as you very well know, are what they wish to obtain."

There wasn’t a way to sugar coat anything from here on out, Access wanted Enzi to pull out every single piece of information she knew. They would do so by any means necessary, retrieve what was valuable to them and at the end, throw her dead body out, making it look like an accident. Will had seen it happen before, many times, and he wasn't going to let that happen to her.

Biting back her instinctive reaction to pull her arm from Will before he got a chance to stick her with the IV needle, she let him go forward with his attempts to aid her...assuming all that was in that bag was, in fact, fluids. Shake off paranoia. Have to be willing to trust him...this is where it starts. In truth, this was a terrible first place to start, letting him pump a liquid into her that she didn’t know for a fact what it was, but all the same, this was their starting point, and she had to take a leap of pure faith—God, how she hated it. Faith was something she’d stopped putting in people long ago.

Suck it up.

She was motionless, watching the needle as it went through her skin, the prick of pain barely going noticed. Her sights moved from her arm as she settled it closer to her, watching Will as he ventured across the room to his bag of goodies. What all did he have in there? Another question she wished she had an answer to. It’d be easy enough for him to pull anything out of that thing from a gun to--If he wanted to hurt you, he would have already. He could have you bounded and gagged right now. But he doesn’t. It was harder than she remembered, believing someone wasn’t out for her blood or worse. At one point, Will was someone she’d have easily put her life in the hands of. He doesn’t want to hurt you. If she kept telling herself that, maybe it would become true...or at the least, maybe she’d believe it.

Keeping quiet, Enzi waited for the man to give her an answer. He was taking his time, that was for sure, more concerned with arbitrary health precautions and digging through his bag. He was giving himself time to form an answer, she was sure of it. If he spat out a response as soon as she’d asked, odds would have been he’d rehearsed it, planned out the exact thing to say to her to make her trust him. Taking time to come up with an answer, it suggested he was doing this for the first time...that it’d be sincere. People living in a similar line of work that they had, they didn’t go into a situation unprepared, after all. This wasn’t part of his plans—of his ‘mission’ he’d been put on.

Then he spoke. “I want you to be out of harms way from the agency who is after you; they go by the name of Access. Their entire goal is all in the name, they obtain, examine and retrieve everything that is ordered of them."

Cute. He wanted to save her. What a hero, a white knight in his shiny armor riding up on a steed to rescue the damsel from the big, bad men. Did people ever just want to help anyone anymore? Enzi had learned very quick that the majority of people had an underlining goal, a self interest they were focused on. Genuine, good hearted people out to save someone else as their primary goal, it was...an idea at best. A fairytale, a pure piece of fiction lost to this day and age. So...what was Will’s?

He’d gotten hold of a towel, starting to dry off the rain water in his hair as he went on to say, "You, as you very well know, are what they wish to obtain." That was...true—well, basically. They wanted what Enzi knew, wanted to keep her from digging any deeper, and wanted to keep her from causing any more problems. They wanted to gather everything she was made of mentally, then erase all the physical. Data collection and hardware termination.

With a slight shake of her head, Enzi looked to her feet. “Do you know why they want me?” she asked, deciding it was time to figure out exactly what he knew. How much did they relay to him? Was he in their outer loop? Just a lacky they planned to knock off as soon as his use was exhausted? Or was he worth more than that to them? Had they started to lean on him for bigger things? Her gaze went back to him, “Know what I have that they want?”

It was all for information, that much he could say, honestly, he knew the exact reasons why they wanted her. The exact information they wanted to pull and then Access also wanted to know what she did but they didn't. They acted as if she was some key to a treasure box that they were itching to open. They had lost this key years before and now, that they were so close to getting it back, to obtaining the infornation that Enzi knew. They had begun to take extra measures to make sure she would be found.

Will wouldn't be surprised if they had secretly sent another group to obtain her. That would be just like Access, they never put their trust into just one thing, they had multiple back ups for every situation. Will guessed that was why no one really knew about them, they cleaned up their tracks and made sure no blood was left. However, Enzi was part of their tracks that they wanted erased, without doing so, she could possibly tear the veil that covered Access' plans.

Then where did that leave Will, he obviously wanted to help Mackenzie and all she wanted to do was uncover the truth. Will knew the truth, the reason why her mother died, the unexpected death of her father and what they wanted from her. He could tell her all this, settle her heart from these past few years filled with shadows. Or, he could have tried to bring Access' plans to the world, making everything come to light and try to stop their plans from going further. He knew the destruction they caused, the lives they have taken and the future they wished to create. But Will had done nothing to stop them, in fact, he didn't know where to start. If he had, he would have been dead by now and unable to contact Enzi.

Perhaps those were just excuses, but he was using Access for information just as much as they were using him. He was a weapon that could be used over and over again. Bu, he doubted that the path he decided to take the moment he met Enzi in the subway would have completely shattered the trust he had built with them. He had to though, if he wanted to earn Mackenzie's trust, he couldn’t be on the fence between the two sides.

"They think that you know what your mother was working on in the lab, and I know that you want to figure out why they killed your mother and father. It was them who had planned it, and their agents who had killed them. The sample your mother obtained is the reason for all this." He was probably repeating things that Enzi knew already, that was why she was out here, trying to figure out why they had to kill someone over a measly sample. But that sample was actually a virus, and by the looks of it, Enzi having been exposed to it before, she was possibly immune to the substance or else she would be dead by now.

Will didn’t know the full contents of what the virus contained. He just knew it was deadly and that whoever could buy it at a high price was theirs for the taking. But Access wouldn't be sending it out unless their was an antidote for themselves. Will stopped for a moment, his breath slowing down, could Access think she had the antibodies within her that held a cure? Will shot a look at Enzi, as if just looking at her would solve the answer to his question. He didn't know what they truly had planned but Will didn't want to hand her over to them to find out.

"What I want to know, is what your attentions are? Did you think that you could stop all this, figure out what really happened and avenge their deaths?" Will wanted to know what she had in mind, until when would she keep running? Did she want to live in hiding forever or was she hoping she could start over and have a new life? Of course it would be hard to let this all go, to turn her back on what she knew. But, if there was a chance that he could get her out of this before Access was able to get their hands on her then he would. He wish he could say the same for himself, but he was far too deep in their grid to turn against them. Hopefully, it wasn't too late for Enzi, but he highly doubted she would turn away from this, that just wasn’t in her nature.

Oh, was that so? They thought she knew what they’d killed her family for? No, they knew that Mackenzie had already figured that little fact out. They knew damn well that she knew it all routed back to that small, cardboard box that’d arrived at her mother’s lab marked with the words Fragile on the outside, and on the inside there was a metal container with a single glass tube encased with padding. It’d ruined everything, that one vial of clear liquid. Preliminary findings had the women saying it was a virus, but not one either had gotten a glimpse at before. Before her mother could bounce some ideas off Enzi, Mackenzie had headed back to base to visit her father. The girl had left her mother to figure out the truth alone. It was, in fact, a virus, one that had been carefully engineered by man. It was highly contagious and dangerous enough that anyone who’d seen it, heard of it, or came into contact with it was not only killed but burned, ensuring no trace of the virus was left.

All that, Enzi had known for a while now; it wasn’t the why Enzi was after anymore. It was something else all together. Enzi had went from wanting to know the why, to wanting to know the ‘who’, to wanting to get retribution, and finally to the point she has reached. The young woman didn’t want revenge—well, not just revenge. She wanted more...more than most could ever accomplish. But she was a very determined girl, and she believed firmly that there was no such thing as impossible. Already, Enzi had made great strides in her quest, which was probably why Access had enlisted William in the first place. They wanted to bury her before she could do anymore damage with the things she’d gathered so far. They were getting desperate, and the desperate were always the most deadly...and usually the easiest to slip-up. It was possibly they had made a slip up in recruiting Will.

When he asked her what her intentions were, it became clear to Enzi they had left some details out when they’d briefed Will. He wasn’t their primary man, not the one they were leaning fully on. So there was another shadow worker heading her search. They didn’t trust Will. Knowing that simple fact made Enzi willing to put a bit of trust in Will. If Access doubted him, they had reason to. “Think so little of me that you only think I’m after revenge?” A small, coy smile tugged at the edge of her lip but vanished quick as she shook her head. “I won’t lie, I started out wanting nothing but revenge and answers.” Her gaze went back to his again. “But now...” She took in a deep breath and again looked from him, focusing on her bare feet. She’d need to go back to the place she was staying and get all her gear…

“I want to make sure this never happens again.” Another smile began to pull at her lips, a light laugh escaping her; having her true objection left unsaid made it seem so much more plausible, but as she readied herself to tell Will, she couldn’t help but realize how unreal it seemed. Her eyes went to him, smile still in place, “I want to bring them to their knees and burn them from existence as they have so many. I want to get rid of Access.”

It wasn’t about revenge. It was about so much more than that. This seemingly impossible task, it was her life, and she would either live a success or die trying.

Access was an agency, a designed business that ran off of secret information that was eaither bribed or stolen from others. They trained assassins to kill and they made sure that all of this was done secretly. That there wouldn't be any mistakes, and if there was one, depending on the rank of that person, he or she would die. Will knew this, he had made a mistake in their eyes, his was that he was close to the Harth family. After days of pain, they finally took the information that they could from him and seeing that they couldn't get anything more they threw him out as bait. He was supposed to have died, they wanted him to die, a method Access wasn't afraid of using, but Will was able to turn things around in his favor. That was the reason he was still alive today instead of in a million pieces, he had made Access think that he was an asset to their company, and as long as they thought that, he would live.

Will should have agreed right then and there to join Enzi on her mission to destroy Access. Afterall, they were the ones who had killed her mother and the only person he ever thought of as a father. Enzi's plans should have been his, her resolve should be motivating his every move but yet, it wasn’t. He had a choice back then whether to live or die, he remembered the bomb positioned so close to him he could hear the ticking. There was only two options at that point, choosing the easier route, to die or to try to live. The one thing that kept coming back to him, the reason why he chose to not die was because he wanted to know what had happened to Mackenzie. Her image, the letter he had received from her father, and the impending knowledge that Access was seeking to kill her was all that Will needed to choose whether to live or die.

Once he had been recruited, the only thought that Will had was to gather information in order to find out where Enzi was hiding. If we wasn't with Access, then he would be running blind folded, not knowing which direction to turn or even knowing where to start searching for her. She was her father's daughter, she had grown up in a military base, she knew how to evade cameras, how to keep quiet and stay hidden. Access was Will's only ticket to finding her, but first he needed to make sure they weren't going to throw him out, so what did he do...he did everything he was told. Following orders, that was something Will was used to, something that he didn't hesitate to follow. If it meant staying on Access' good graces, to be moved up, to be trusted then he would do it.

But now, he had the one thing that he had been working so hard to accomplish. He knew where Enzi was, she was right here in front of him. What did he expect to do at this point? With her resolve, he couldn't dare to think of changing her mind but he also knew that going up against Access, well, she couldn't do it alone. He knew where Access was located, he knew the names of those in command, he knew the layout of their base. In truth, he could help Enzi way more than what she probably thought he was capable of. She didn't know how long he had been there, what he had to do in order to get to the rank he was at. If it weren't for Enzi, he might have continued in that work, it was a way for him to live, because with his past and the things that he knew, he had to eaither continue working for Access or risk getting killed by them.

Will restrained himself from glancing over at the bag that held the gun inside of it. All that Access wanted was Enzi, to take her in and then Will's mission would be over. He could go on living his life, but if he chose to help Enzi, then that would lead to more complications, danger, and possibly death. Will's lips curved slightly into a smile, he put his head down to hide it from Enzi, he didn't want her to think he was laughing at her notion of taking down Access. He was merely laughing at the fact, that the decision he had to make wasn't even a decision to make at all. He had already made it the moment he decided to enter Access three years ago.

"You have no idea what Access can do, how many people they have, the kind of weapons they carry and the back up systems they have in order to make sure that their secrets never get released to the public." Will stared at Enzi, looking into her eyes, but throughout all this time, she never once backed down, he saw it in her that she was ready, she wouldn't walk away just because of information she wasn't aware of or the unknown danger. If she didn't know something, she would figure it out, if there were weapons, she would find a way to get through them. And if there wasn't a path set out for her to take, she would make one herself. But, she didn't have to do it alone, "You may not know those details, but I do, and you are going to need my help if you want to bring Access down."
