This is for the people who are helping with the read-a-thon schedule. Please do not comment on this if you are not helping figure out the Readathon Schedule.

For Tura, Andge, and I.

message 3: by Wolf (Alpha) (new)

Wolf (Alpha) Okay, I will be on for a bit.

Okay cool. I am on.

Andge (Down the Rabbit Hole) Hey I'll be popping in and out as well for the rest of the day. What have we got so far? Any suggested reads to do?

message 6: by Rachel, Amazing Mod (new)

Rachel | 95 comments Mod
I have posted a poll for what book we should read as a group but that is all I we have

Andge (Down the Rabbit Hole) Oh yes, I have seen that. So these will be monthly reads? And the suggested series that we were discussing about reading together? Would we set aside a certain month to do that, or over the span of a couple of months (e.g. a whole season like all of spring) to read it alongside the BOTM?

message 8: by Rachel, Amazing Mod (last edited Feb 12, 2017 12:32PM) (new)

Rachel | 95 comments Mod
Yes and we can come up with different read-a-thons and find different themes for the readathons. That means that you would have to read books that are in that certain category. We would set out a couple of months for the series. We would also read the BOTM along with it, yes. We can also pick different dates for readathons and different things. Sorry this so long.

Andge (Down the Rabbit Hole) No, no, this is good. Hashing out the details now is important.

Okay, so we can do a series specific readathon, and a theme-based readathon (of unrelated books by different authors?). When would you think the first one should start? I know the first BOTM is currently being voted (for February?). Want to wait till March to start a series readathon?

message 10: by Rachel, Amazing Mod (new)

Rachel | 95 comments Mod
The BOTM is for March. For the theme based readathon would be unrelated books by different authors, yes. I think sometime next month. Yeah definitely start the series readathon in March.

Andge (Down the Rabbit Hole) All right, awesome. So should we come up with a couple of series or theme-based ideas and let people vote on them as well? Or just decide amongst ourselves here?

message 12: by Rachel, Amazing Mod (new)

Rachel | 95 comments Mod
Yeah. I think we should decide on themes and series

message 13: by Wolf (Alpha) (new)

Wolf (Alpha) Sorry I wasn't on today, I had to work.

Wolf (Tura) wrote: "Sorry I wasn't on today, I had to work."

That is totally okay. We didn't make any huge decsions

Andge (Down the Rabbit Hole) Wolf (Tura) wrote: "Sorry I wasn't on today, I had to work."

Yeah, that's totally okay. We're still deciding on most things. Mostly clarifications on the plans today

Andge (Down the Rabbit Hole) Okay I'm going to just throw out some ideas before I head to bed for tonight.

Series based:
-Study series by Maria V. Snyder
-White Rabbit Chronicles by Gena Showalter

or these above can be integrated into themed-based ones:
-Assassin themed (includes Study series; potentially Throne of Glass series; Nevernight Chronicles by Jay Kristoff)
-Alice in Wonderland themed (includes White Rabbit Chronicles; trilogies like Queen of Hearts by Colleen Oakes and Splintered by A.G. Howard)

message 17: by Wolf (Alpha) (new)

Wolf (Alpha) I would say for assassin themed, we could do the Throne of Glass series.

message 18: by Rachel, Amazing Mod (new)

Rachel | 95 comments Mod
Yeah agreed

message 19: by Andge (Down the Rabbit Hole) (last edited Feb 13, 2017 08:35AM) (new)

Andge (Down the Rabbit Hole) Okay, that's feasible. Now, how long would we set for doing this readathon? Not everyone reads as fast (or has as much time for reading) as others in the group.

If we include all those mentioned in the assassin-themed category above, the breakdown number of books is this:
-Study series: 6
-Throne of Glass series: 5
-Nevernight Chronicles: soon-to-be 2

How long would you think it would take to get through these together (keeping in mind that we want more people to be able to do this in that time span)?

message 20: by Wolf (Alpha) (new)

Wolf (Alpha) -Study Series: 2 months maybe.
-Throne of Glass Series: 1 1/2 months
-Nevernight Chronicles: 1 month

jasmin ☽˚✧₊ Hiii can I join this reading schedule(?)
sorry I'm new here and trying to understand :))

What is the Nevernight Chronicles

message 25: by Wolf (Alpha) (new)

Wolf (Alpha) I'm not sure. I have never heard of them.

message 26: by Rachel, Amazing Mod (new)

Rachel | 95 comments Mod
Also, the Study series is that the Poison Study series

message 27: by Wolf (Alpha) (new)

Wolf (Alpha) Rachel wrote: "Also, the Study series is that the Poison Study series"

Yes.

message 28: by Rachel, Amazing Mod (new)

Rachel | 95 comments Mod
Okay that's what I thought

Andge (Down the Rabbit Hole) Rachel wrote:

It's by Jay Kristoff! Nevernight (book 1) came out last year but I didn't get a chance to read it yet. The main character fits the bill of "assassin". Book 2 is coming out September I think. If we read this last, we might just make it when it comes outs!

Andge (Down the Rabbit Hole) Btw, thanks for making me a mod :)

The read of the month for March is Replica

message 34: by Wolf (Alpha) (new)

Wolf (Alpha) Jasmin wrote: "and did some of you already read the TOG Series?"

I read the first one, but not any of the others.

message 35: by Wolf (Alpha) (new)

Wolf (Alpha) @Rachel, when should we read the TOG series. I am going to start the rest of them this month, so that they will count for one of my challenges.

Wolf (Tura) wrote: "@Rachel, when should we read the TOG series. I am going to start the rest of them this month, so that they will count for one of my challenges."

Could we start like at the end of the month because I am in the middle of the Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone series

Andge (Down the Rabbit Hole) I think to accommodate readers going at a different pace, we can set the timeline for the different books to be read over certain months, but if they're read earlier by some, that's okay as long as they remember enough details to contribute chats about it during the appropriate, set time.

And there's also the new re-reading counts here that might still make it into the year's reading challenge again if re-read (though I don't know for sure since I haven't tested it)

message 38: by Rachel, Amazing Mod (new)

Rachel | 95 comments Mod
For those series do you think we should make a separate chat for them

Andge (Down the Rabbit Hole) Yeah we could. Sounds like a good plan if we want directed discussions about those specific topics. But maybe keep them locked until that series reaches its appointed schedule for discussion?

message 40: by Rachel, Amazing Mod (new)

Rachel | 95 comments Mod
Yeah that would work

message 41: by Wolf (Alpha) (new)

Wolf (Alpha) I can't do the TOG series at the end of the month. I need them to count for my challenge, which is for this month.

message 42: by Rachel, Amazing Mod (new)

Rachel | 95 comments Mod
That is okay

Andge (Down the Rabbit Hole) Yeah, that's fine! So should we start figuring out the schedule then?

message 44: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca | 38 comments I was also thinking about options of series to read. How about Necroscope (Necroscope, #1) by Brian Lumley , Vamphyri! (Necroscope, #2) by Brian Lumley , The Source (Necroscope, #3) by Brian Lumley , this is the first 3 of a series that has at least 9 books or so. Lots of possibilities for scheduling some interesting options on the reading schedule.

message 45: by Rachel, Amazing Mod (new)

Rachel | 95 comments Mod
I think that we should start picking out dates.

message 46: by Rachel, Amazing Mod (new)

Rachel | 95 comments Mod
Looks like Replica is our March book of the month

Andge (Down the Rabbit Hole) Awesome! Should we set up an event for this so everyone knows to start getting their hands on Replica for March?

message 48: by Rachel, Amazing Mod (new)

Rachel | 95 comments Mod
Okay. Should I make the thread or did you already?

message 49: by Wolf (Alpha) (new)

Wolf (Alpha) Replica is the book for March?

message 50: by Rachel, Amazing Mod (new)

Rachel | 95 comments Mod
