The third challenge is to read the first book in a mystery series or read a sequel in a mystery series you have already started. If you are participating in the March #Book1CoziesClub read, this counts! You could also choose a previous #Book1CoziesClub selection to read for this one.

Feel free to discuss the books you've read for this challenge in this thread, but please be considerate and hide anything that might be considered a spoiler. If you decide to review a book that you've read for this challenge, please link your review. Should you be in need of a recommendation for this one, please feel free to ask!

Debbi Faust I guess I am not actually following the challenge prompts because I have not read any of this series but I chose "Still Life" by Louise Penny. She is another author I have not read but I look forward reading this book.

For my first mystery of the month, I downloaded one from Hoopla that is not even on my TBR. It's the first in the Coffeehouse mystery series by Cleo Coyle called On What Grounds (on audio).

This book is fine for this challenge. It is ANY series book, it doesn't matter what number in the series.

Tiana Hadnt | 7 comments Just finished reading Murder of a Lady by Anthony Wynne. It was written in 1931 and was the twelfth, I think, in the series. I enjoyed it. It had a couple of things in it that I wasn't accustomed to, and so they shocked me but I still enjoyed it.

Elizabeth Tyree | 19 comments the book I chose for this one actually could count for a couple of challenges I think...I have Lillian Jackson Braun's The Cat Who Could Read Backwards

Debbi Faust I love The Cat Who books!

Debbi Faust I finished my book for this challenge last night.....Still Life by Louise Penny. It is the first in the Chief Inspector Armand Gamache series. I loved this book. He and his team of investigators are quite good at their jobs and fun too.

Debbie Harris (memaknits) | 10 comments For this challenge I choose Patricia Cornwells "Postmortem. It's a really awesome books. I gave it 4 stars. Even though there is a lot of technical stuff about computers (all of which is outdated, they are still using modems) the story was still fascinating. I highly recommend it.

Sounds right down my alley ^-^ I'll go add the first book in the series to my To Read list. Thanks Leonard!

Lisa | 32 comments Just finished Betrayal in Death (book 12) of the In Death series. Not as big a fan of this one as in past books, it was a little slower read than I was used to in this series. The mystery was not as suspenseful as in past books.

I've got this one sitting next to my bed currently. I pulled it from my shelf to read a few months ago, but never got to it. I made the mistake years ago of picking up one from the middle of the series and I was so lost because I didn't know it was from a series at the time! I hope to get to at least this one some time this year as I have been collecting the series for a bit now.

Good to know! This is probably my Mom's favorite series right now. She's up to date with the releases. I want to re-start this series this year. Never got past the first book, but that was because the series just started when I read Naked in Death.

I'm pretty sure I have the first book in this series in my library. I'll need to go look for it.

I pretty much always take long breaks between books in series because I don't want to burn out on the series for one, and two I have soooo many series going at one time! I also get distracted. Like I'll intend on reading a next book in a series I'm working on and oh look at that series that I want to start! LOL I'm horrible. That's why my To Read list is miles long!

I read Bubbles Unbound for this challenge and it is a prior selection of #Book1CoziesClub

I enjoyed it but there were things that bothered me. There are references that date the book as well. For more of my thoughts, please see my review here

Tim Smith | 74 comments I just finished reading Patriot Games. It can be considered as the first book in the Jack Ryan series since it takes before The Hunt for Red October even though it was written later.

You can read my review at http://tims-reviews.blogspot.com/2017...

Rachel | 20 comments For this challenge I read Death by Darjeeling by Laura Childs. I don't know what made this book more interesting, the ties with tea (love tea!) or the mystery. It ended in a place that I would have never guessed. My only grip about this was the the flowers on the tables were never mentioned in the beginning (correct me if I'm wrong!). This made the conclusion a little to loose.

Jen (Remembered Reads) (rememberedreads) | 10 comments In the end of the 9 books that I read for MMM, 7 of them were from a series. I actually ended up feeling like it was harder to find non-series mysteries!
