The fairytale for the month of March is going to be:

Beauty and the beast!

Which Beauty and the beast retellings do you guys want to read?

Susan Chapek Perhaps The Beast's Garden. But I think it's a bit of a darker version (because it's set in World War II), and I might not be in the mood to read a dark historical.

So I'm hoping for some recs of lighter B&B novels.

In exchange, I offer you my rec: Uprooted I think it's terrific. A retelling with wizards.

Marita | 3 comments I recommend Truth in the dark by Amy Lane. I really love that story.

Lane | 2 comments If Uprooted is a retelling I vote for that one since I've been meaning to read it for awhile.
Also this one Beauty: A Retelling of the Story of Beauty and the Beast

I have that one on my shelf too. :)

Susan Chapek Now that I'm thinking about it, Uprooted is less of a strict retelling and more of a story with familiar fairy tale references--I think the set-up is part Beauty and the Beast (because--and I'm not spoiling anything by saying this; it's page 1 info) a girl has to be sent to the wizard every few years to live alone in his castle as his prisoner. But there are also Bluebeard's Castle references.

So Beauty may be a more "correct" choice.

But one way or the other, put Uprooted on your TBR list.

Entreat Me by Grace Draven sounds interesting as well.
