P.J. Benney (pjbenney) | 2 comments I'm looking for some inspiration. I like Neil Gaiman, Jasper Fforde and Christopher Moore. Although not necessarily Urban Fantasy, Pratchett and Adams are obviously funny authors too. Anything like this? Would love to hear of some funny female authors especially.

Thanks all!

Jenna | 53 comments It's more paranormal romance than UF, but for funny, my go-to is Isabel Jordan:

Semi-Charmed (Harper Hall Investigations #1) by Isabel Jordan Semi-Human (Harper Hall Investigations, #2) by Isabel Jordan Semi-Twisted by Isabel Jordan

And of course, Darynda Jones:
Eleventh Grave in Moonlight (Charley Davidson, #11) by Darynda Jones

she also has the Dragon Kin series as G.A. Aiken -- Dragon Actually (Dragon Kin, #1) by G.A. Aiken

Jane Cousins' Southern Sanctuary series was funny as well To Woo A Warrior (Southern Sanctuary, #1) by Jane Cousins

Kajol Darynda Jones and her Charley Davidson series

Kajol Accidentally submitted the post before I had completed it!

As I was saying:

Darynda Jones and her Charley Davidson series!! as mentioned already in this group.

Charley is absolutely hilarious and there other serious themes in the book, which Charley takes in her stride presenting the darker scenes as something lighter and with a touch of levity.

This is a very long series with 11 books and counting.

You should try to work of A. Lee. Martinez.

This looks exactly like my cup of tea! Thanks for the suggestion everyone. Keep them coming. I always felt like comic-fantasy was a neglected genre but you all are proving otherwise. :)

Christine Warren's series The Others has a lot of humour in it. I especially love some of her titles. She's No Faerie Princess You're So Vein Prince Charming Doesn't Live Here are just a few of the funnier titles. Since they are UF there is some serious stuff in them too, but there is a lot of light hearted.

May I suggest China Miéville Un Lun Dun and Neal Stephenson Snow Crash or Jim Butcher Storm Front

These books are not funny like haha but kind of like American Gods has a lot of ironies and sly humor it is more like that

Thank you for the Darynda Jones rec. I fell in love after the first book! So funny!

Michelle Tempted By Books (michelletemptedbybooks) | 195 comments LOVE Darynda. I also really enjoy Gini Koch, but she is more SciFi than UF.

Joseph (bluemanticore) | 216 comments Molly Harper is one author whose works all crack me up. Start with Nice Girls Don't Have Fangs.

Helena#bookdreamer | 21 comments You can try Warden (Elemental Paladins, #1) by Montana Ash and The Light Within Me (Six Saviors, #1) by Carly Fall . The chemistry between the other characters makes these books so funny.

Knockin' Books (knockinbooks) | 6 comments Highly recommend Robyn Peterman.

Found this site that's giving away a few free copies of her latest release, too:

Darinne Paciotti | 6 comments Tom Holt has written some great urban fantasy, often with ties to myth or literature. My favorite is Expecting Someone Taller.

message 21: by Pankhuri (new)

Pankhuri | 1 comments Alanear Alder's My Commander series and Jane Cousins southern sanctuary series are my all time favourites in funny PNR-UF. DO give it a try!

message 23: by Brandy (new)

Brandy (bookloverbrandy) | 17 comments I highly recommend KF Breene's Fire and Ice Trilogy. Reagan makes me laugh every time I read it. Her Magical Mayhem Trilogy is also hilarious and is in the same DDVN world, character crossovers. I'd link the 1st book for each one but GR hatesme tonight, sorry.

message 24: by Gray (new)

Gray Holborn | 6 comments Second the KF Breene series and also suggest Deborah Wilde's Nava Katz series.
