I hope this is not too off-topic for this list. If so, I trust the moderator to delete it. No offense taken.
As the best-read group of people on the planet (NOT an overstatement), I'm hoping someone might help me find this book. Of course I do not remember the title or the author or even the color of the cover. It was about people with strongly held beliefs (think religion or politics) and how they maintained those beliefs in the face if information that clearly refutes their belief. I think the author was also trying to help people with opposing beliefs learn how to work and communicate with those people. Any ideas?
My first guess would be the book Shannan suggested by Michael Shermer. If that is not it, you could try: Mistakes Were Made but Not by Me by Carol Tavris Being Wrong by Kathryn Schulz Thinking Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman
