The #GOALS thread
This is great Alexis. I live by lists, which are technically daily goals.
1- Get Mayan book published.
2- Speak to Julie about marketing plan for Easter.
3- set up all Michael's books on assorted blogs.
4- Send out brochures to libraries, bookstores, schools, and camps for three different genres.
5- Prepare worksheets for historical books.
6- format newest book- start marketing plan-
7-submit books for awards.
8-Beta read Michael's newest book.
9- start researching newest historical book.
10- prepare promo sheet and mailing of Mayan book and Germany.
11- read at least four indie books this week.
12- watch Lord of the Rings-
Now I have to do a list for my day job.

Carole, gulp. That's one heck of a list. Goodluck!
Looking forward to the blog posts @ Alex.
Love this thread: my goal this week is to post 3 blog posts not pertaining to my own book, get my book back in an overall ranking of 3k, refine manuscript for book 2
Wow Carole! I should have no excuse for not reaching my goals lol. I just have three goals for this week:
1. Finish illustrating my last page for book 4
2. Reach 70 followers on Facebook.
3. Build my email list to prep for my book four release

Yes, put it there and I will follow you. (I might have done that already. lol)
I start everyday with a list. I like to eliminate the easier ones first- or the one step ones. There is nothing prettier than a list with everything crossed off.

You can find it if you go to my Goodreads author page too. I don't have a webpage yet so I am using my FB page until then. :)

Well, I put in the work to reach my goals and I gained 7 followers on Facebook already. I just need one more like to reach 90 and I have 7 days left. I might just bump it up to 95. :D
Twitter is much harder so I've decided to hold a giveaway. I've posted about it on Facebook and Goodreads. I hope it yields results.
:)

Good job!

You were my 90th! :D Thank you. :)

My goals for this week are:
1) design and draw the map the book needs (I have been avoiding this for too long)
2) Be more active with the FB account (haven't done anything with it yet, blah)
3) ask the schedule for covers from the graphic artist

Time for a check in everyone.
My goal for the whole week was to reach 90 likes om Facebook and 25 followers on Twitter. I've done better than that with 98 likes on FB and 30 followers on Twitter and I still have a couple of days left.
So, I'm kicking it up a notch!

Yes. Yes. I made a poster. I'm not playing around anymore. :p
Shooting for 100 likes on Facebook and 35 followers on Twitter now.

I've got my review blog post done, I'm on track to get my current round of editing done, and I'll be starting my history of crime post this ev..."

I'll help you with the Freebie and pre-orders! Let me go get my croissants and my hot choco and I will drop your cover in some Facebook groups.
I am 2 followers away from my Facebook goal! I have had a very busy week so far and haven't finished illustrating my last page yet. I plan to start that today or tomorrow though. I started a giveaway for people who subscribe to my email list and have not had much success yet. I had to limit the giveaway to the contiguous US due to shipping cost so I think that has limited my outreach. Also added a new goal of designing a bookmark for parents and I am hoping to print it soon!

Thanks Alex! Unfortunately I don't have a Twitter account. Maybe that should be one of my goals for next week. I really appreciate your offer though. Congrats on the great progress toward your goals this week!

Set up an instafreebee thingy to build newsletter list
package a short story for a giveaway
outline next two novels in one series
publish another in the first series.
Plus more stuff. I don't have numbers goals on followers and the like. I just have personal goals.
Good luck to everyone in reaching their goals!

I love looking at my crinkled up, crossed out paper! Thanks Alexis, when you do it like this, it never feels overwhelming.
1. Last page needs finishing touches but is pretty much done
2. Reached 68 followers! 2 shy of my goal but I am very happy with that. :)
3. Still working on building my email list (this one has turned out more difficult than expected).
4. Designed and printed bookmarks.
Not a bad week at all. :)

Your doing great Alex! Congrats!
Your doing great Alex! Congrats!
The purpose of this thread is pretty simple. In it, those that choose to participate will state a certain goal they wish to achieve over the next week and do everything in their power to do so. I think that the key to be successful at anything in life is to be proactive. It's almost impossible to be a successful author if you're not spending a couple of minutes or hours a day building a platform, editing your book or doing something else that a) broadens your audience or b) makes you a better writer.
So, what are the daily steps you've taken to arrive at your final destination? Nothing? Are you intimidated by how DAUNTING it all seems? That's fine - we're going to break that BIG goal into bite-sized chunks.
Personally: I want to expand my social media presence to 200 followers on Twitter and Facebook combined by the end of March.
This week's goal:
Reach 90 followers on Facebook.
Reach 25 followers on Twitter.
What about you?
What's your goal in your pursuit of (writer) happiness? :)
Writing 2500 words this week maybe?
Just keep three little groundrules in mind.
Be realistic.
Commit to yourself.
There's no crying in baseball.
Lol, just kidding.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Good luck!
