Yes - I haven't listened to the programme yet, but from the description it seems hard to tell. I find it hard to see how a 150 year-old work can be the novel of the 21st century, regardless of how relevant it is today. On the other hand I would be perfectly happy to make the case that Les misérables is the novel of the 19th century. Few other books written are as all-encompassing as Les misérables.
