Damien Black | 8 comments I've read quite a bit about the crusades and I know that they used ships that could carry 1,000 people, also that they had side panels to allow war horses to disembark directly onto land (sources Joshua Prawer; secondary and Joinville/Villhardouin; primary).

Anyone know what the technical term for such ships was? I'm presuming cog is out... were they carracks?

they were the main ship of warfare in the battle of Lepanto, and the primary ship of use by the order of malta

Damien Black | 8 comments Ah yes... of course! That would make perfect sense as they were warships... Thanks!

Richard Buchheimer (richbuch) | 1 comments I would guess they used Cruise-ader ships. From "Monty Python and the Holy Grail".
