i had to put mine up. i had it on the coffee table and it was so tempting.

I get that. This one is so short, it's only going to take a couple of days to get through, too.

Wow, the prices are high for this one so I will have to pass. That sucks because I saw you guys saying it was Silverbullet and I have been trying to find that book. Lol

Yes, it is an expensive one, especially for being such a short story, too. It is nicely illustrated though. I did find a paperback that is the novelization of the movie Silver Bullet, but it's even more expensive. I don't think there are that many out there, I guess.

yeah tell me about it Melissa. i did buy a used one but it was more than i like paying for a used book. it's in good shape but still...

I might keep an eye out on thriftbooks.com. I find a lot of good stuff there even if it takes several months for them to get a rare one back in =)

And the upcoming reads you have listed are the ones coming next as you have them listed.?

If so I'm going to try to jump in on some of the ones I already have!

Any way any of you can use a library system to get it until you can find a reasonable priced copy? It's not the most popular book in the library system, but I know my system has 3 copies scattered between a few libraries.

wow! mine didn't have it. your libraries is hogging them all Myst! lol :P

Mine don't have them either but it's tiny and there is no point =)

My friends system (a lot bigger than mine) has 2 copies and one of the adaptation Silver Bullet.

And there's always an interlibrary loan. So unless any of you are in my area, there's at least 4 possible copies to ILL. The next county over has 3 cycles, 1 silver so up that to 7 possibly available for ILL.

Another member, Ken, started the challenge but got lost along the way so I stepped up and kept it going. The goal is to read all of Stephen King's works. We are saving series for last.

I started this last night. Silver bullet scared me so much when I was a kid. And too see these illustrations while reading in bed ain't helping!

It doesn't appear to be that long of a book. It's downright short by SK standards.

I agree, Myst. Even shorter than some of the storys in his short story collection books. I really do like the illustrations. They did a good job with that.

Yeah it is. I like them so far. I didn't cheat and flip through & look at them.

Oh wow, there are pics. That makes the 124 pages even less when you consider a few pages are pics.

I just started to try and read it...and I don't know if pages are out of order or not.

(view spoiler)[First page after the copywrite page was a 'in memory of...' page. Backside of that page is blank, followed by a page of 2 quotes/verses/rhymes with a blank back. Then a page of months with January bolded, on the back is a dark image with the word January in it.

Blank right hand page, back of that page has the 'start' of the story.

Acre Field - takes on a cracked glaze look. The houses remain dark; etc etc) And it's page number is 31. The next right hand page has a pic of a male in a red shirt, grey pants sitting in the snow with hills covered in trees behind him.

On the backside of that image is more text.

The last real blizzard of the year... with a page number of 29. Blank right page.

Then we have a 2 page b/w image of a stream bed? with rain falling and the text of March. Backside of that right hand page is the list of months with March bolded. Right hand page next to it is page 24 with a few lines of text and an image of a card with roses on it.

Backside of that page is a color picture of a boy and a wolf. Right hand page is 22. Backside is page 21. Right hand page is blank.

Another 2 page b/w image. February is the text. Backside of it is Feb bolded. Right hand page is an image of playing cards on the floor and pg 16. Backside of that is a color image of a wolf coming through a door/wall. Right hand page is pg 14 full of text. Backside of that page is 13 full of text. Right hand page is blank.

Backside of that page if a b/w image of snow on rocks? Right hand page is the list of months with April bolded. 2 page b/w image of clouds in the sky. with the text of April. Backside is blank. Right hand page is page 37.

By the middle of the month, the last of the snow flurries have turned to showers of rain... (hide spoiler)]

Do I read normally, or do I have to read that first 'section' backwards?

Wow, yours sounds like it is all out of order. Each chapter is a month, and your first page that you called the 'start' of the story, is actually the second page of the third chapter, March. The way mine starts is with the quotes page (one from Henry Ellender and one a child's ryme), then the 'January' page, then a two-page black-and-white illustration, with the story starting on the page after that. Each chapter seems to be set up that way, with a few other illustrations scattered in the middle and at the end. My page numbers are different because I have a copy that has a forward in it from Stephen King.

I used the page numbers to help show why I think it's all mixed up.

I know there are a few books like House of Leaves that it could be intentionally done like that, but I wanted to double check that it was all muddled up.

Just finished August and I've got a pretty good guess of who the werewolf may be...

Mine actually starts on page 13 as well. I'm gonna read some tonight.

I've read until March. Not bad so far. I can picture the movie perfectly in each scene.

It's been so long since I've seen the movie. I just remember the ending.

I just watched the movie about 6 weeks ago, so I can't help but picture it all!

I think the tale in April is particularly creepy.
