Julie Kolb (juliekolb) Yes.

Marketing is easier to do for others. (Emphasis on the words for others

Art is done for self.

An art is for self enjoyment, marketing is work. I think that is the difference between the two. When you are really talented and have the skills to market brilliantly and enjoy doing so, you make it an art.

However, I know people who live their lives pursuing their passions and in that regard transform their existence into art.

Great post, Amanda.

Q: Can someone master the art of networking, without this being their passion?

Janet I think there are those that can talk the talk without meaning or really caring about what they say. So yes, it's possible to talk passionately about something and be absolutely fake about it. Not nice, not honourable even, but I'm guessing it happens everyday.

Julie Kolb (juliekolb) Passion and drive, are the one and the same? You can be driven to master something, but is that passionate revenge, love, desire or anger?

Networking and marketing are tools to an end. Art, does it have an end.

This is some deep thinking for a Sunday.

I think for some people marketing is an art. I personally find it a chore I have to do. I like to help others and that's part of networking, that could wind up being marketing...but on the other hand might not. I might simply get the good feeling of having helped someone.
