Hi Everyone!

Had a kind of slow reading week, I wasn't super feeling the one I was reading. It was Library of Souls and I did finish it. I'm counting it as my book with pictures. It eventually got to be ok, but it was just a really slow start. I don't really like series that cut off in the middle of an action scene and then restart the next book right where it left off. I hadn't read hallow city for a couple years, and I don't enjoy the series enough for it to be a re-read for me, so I spent most of the book trying to remember what had happened. It eventually wrapped up alright, but it's not going down as a favorite series.

I also read Descender, Volume Two: Machine Moon andDescender, Volume Three: Singularities which are both beautifully illustrated and written. They don't count for any challenges, I just felt like a break after all the heavy going with the other book.

Currently jumping between The Fairy Godmother which is a many time reread because I just felt like I needed a break, and Wool Omnibus which came recommended to me by a friend. I'm hoping it'll fit into a challenge somewhere, but I have no idea at this point.

I finished Ready Player Onethis morning, both as part of the FOE books club and as my "bestseller from a genre you wouldn't normally read." It sucked me in right away, but I found it lost steam (and some coherence) by part III. Still, I'd give it a re-read in a few years just because I thought it was fun and original, and I'm a child of the 80s, so, nostalgia.

Today, I'm starting The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, which came recommended for the book of letters read. But, do you ever have the feeling that you've read a book before, and just can't remember what it was? I know about a decade ago I read a book that was set on Guernsey and involved WWII, but I can't remember much other than that, and I think it might be this book! I guess I'll find out today. :-)

ETA: yes-I have read this book before! But I don't really remember any of it, so it's like reading it again. This book is beautiful!!! So many of the letters are bringing a tear to my eye as they reveal more about the characters and their lives during the War. If you're still looking for a book for the letter category, I can't recommend this one enough!

Also, this is the first time I've checked a book out of the library on my eReader. Every time I check a book out of the library, I feel so much library love, but I'm feeling it even more today since I was basically able to "go" to the library in my PJs over morning tea and get check out this book (my other option was to drive across town to the one branch that has it in right now). Maybe I like the convenience, or maybe I'm just channeling Parzival?

I'm working on Ready Player One for FOE book club. I'm a child of the 80's (more like late teen-young 20s). I'm a software engineer who still has an Atari 800 early computer still set up and working in my basement. We even have a pinball machine from that era in our basement. I've played all the video games from that era. I'm about 20% through it and having a difficult time. It isn't pulling me in yet, feels supers slow and I'm wondering what my problem is because so many people rave about this book.
