We are trying a cloud-based survey tool to select the book because this group is hosted in multiple places and we want to be able to offer a combined survey. Please provide feedback, positive or negative.

The survey is here https://goo.gl/A4Hlw6

I tired to blast this as a notification but, some reason, Goodreads stripped off the URL.

Outis | 64 comments The URL actually was in the notification but the /a tag was missing. You may have overwritten it by mistake.
One of the problems with third-party polls is that you couldn't tell if someone voted many times.

I think that there was some blocking available of to prevent double voting but, you're right, without a logon, there's no way to enforce one person one vote. We are trying to come up with a way for the members on the various systems (Goodreads, Facebook, Yahoo) to all vote on the same poll without making them sign up for something

Here is a test poll where I have added restrictions. If you try to vote again, it changes your vote:

Outis | 64 comments The restriction doesn't seem to be implemented in a very smart way. Of course it's impossible to stop determined serial voters in anonymous polls but it wouldn't have been very hard to detect my lazy triple vote.

So, I guess the question is how much are we worried about cheating?

The other alternative is to run duplicate polls on the different platforms and then manually add them together. But, even then, I could vote twice - once on Facebook and once here.

Outis | 64 comments Voting twice isn't likely to change the outcome. Voting a dozen times might.
I guess we ought to be about as worried about cheating as we care about the the poll in the first place.
Speaking for myself, I don't care much since I'm not likely to plan my reading based on anonymous polls. I'd much rather trust moderators to pick books based on what they know about individual voters.
