I started it at like 10 last night and just finished it about half an hour ago. Shit had me shook.

Add Evan Peters as Jayden. I'd substitude Zachary Quinto as Steve, and use Denis O'Hare as the Colton Mathers

I'm down with the story, but I'm finding that I don't identify with, or even like, any of the characters, with the possible exception of Grim. I'm way more interested in the backstory of Katherine and the town than any of the character interactions taking place.
Is anyone else having a similar experience or is it just me?

Little spoiler discussion below, FYI:
Perhaps I missed it, but was it confirmed that Jaydon played the recording for Tyler? I know Lawrence mentions it to Steve, but what was unclear to me was whether Jaydon did it of his own volition. If so, it would have been nice to have followed up on that with a little confirmation via Jaydons thoughts, etc. Or it's completely spelled out and I'm a lazy reader. Either way, can someone let me know, lol.
As I mentioned above, I found the ending to be problematic. Also, the breast mountain made of children covered in milk and / or pate afterbirth was ridiculous and completely broke the tension for me. Speaking of pate, it was essentially a supporting character in this book which I found to be equal parts amusing and absurd and so I kind of loved it.
Re: Jayden and the recording, they made a point of describing him shaking at the end of one chapter right before a "shaking" person is described playing the recording for Tyler. They also said that Jayden was the only one who had the recording on his phone, and he clearly didn't delete it lol I remember them describing his face when he was supposed to and I went "that lil motherfucker kept it"
Boob imagery aside I really liked it! I enjoyed Katherine a lot, sewn-shut eyes and mouths are really gross and creepy to me so my roommate had to deal with me yelling "NO STOP" a lot

Yeah I was really into the witch, the idea that she wasn't an evil entity the entire time was really fascinating to me. My favorite idea in horror is that the worst monsters are the ones we make ourselves.
