I came across this cool article online that encouraged me to make a survey out of it to see what your opinions are. So please, check out the link below to take the survey and let me know what you think. TIA.

Betsy I took the survey and was surprised that there were so few questions about e-books. I know some people do not read anything but hardcover/paperbacks, but for someone like me with health problems, they are a big help.

Shannon (shananigansreads) | 355 comments Thanks Joseph. I enjoyed looking at the results (after I answered of course) I'll have to be sure to check back in and see the responses as time goes on.

Karen M | 418 comments The only question/response that seemed off to me was the one about seeing the movie before or after reading the book. The majority of people seem to want to read the book first.

I discover books I want to read when I've seen a movie I enjoyed and I check to see if there was a book and then I read the book. I would say for me it's half and half. Some books I've read have later become movies and some movies have intrigued me enough so that I've read the book. Most recently The Hunger Games books caught my attention because I saw the first movie so I went ahead and read all three books. I saw the second movie after I read the book and had no less enjoyment either way.

Can you see the responses without taking the quiz again?

It struck me as odd, but only one other person took the quiz before me.. (?)

I discovered about five years ago that if I see the movie first, I am much more able to treat movie and book like the two separate products they are. It also cuts down on a tendency toward "the book was better". There is already too much to read without trying to also read every movie.

You have hereby the unconditional sympathy of a hardcover junkie.

Betsy Thanks. I just don't think many 'hardcover junkies' (and I do have lots of hardcover books) can appreciate how much easier an e-book is to handle when you have physical problems or even space problems. ;-)

Tiffany (herbtiff) That was a fun survey. I would love to read all books before seeing the movie, but I don't usually wait. As a huge movie lover and a reader, but a slow reader I like to see movies in theaters. Thanx for the survey Joseph. I enjoyed it.

Lin | 266 comments I am a reader. That is how I define myself. I do occasionally like to watch a movie. I always, with out exception, want to read a book first. Reading the book does not spoil the movie for me. But seeing a movie definitely spoils a book for me.

I thought I saved the link but I didn't. Darn it :-(

@Joseph Is it possible for you to post a link to the results?

Betsy When were these results posted? I know I answered one of the questions for which there is a 0 as an answer.

Betsy, those aren't the number of people who answered, it's the percentage of people who answered... in other words, you are sometimes in a SMALL minority. eta... nope, I'm totally wrong... Sorry.

Thanks for those statistics, Joseph.

Charles (cbloky) | 49 comments with the question on lending out books i have no problem doing it but i have the person write in a notebook which book or books they borrow so i know where the book is if i see it missing from my shelves and cross it out on return
as for writing in the books i don't do it unless it is a text book for learning then yes i do hi-lite

message 17: by Louise (new)

Louise | 280 comments Do you have the same lending policies for all your books?

For me it really depends on the book! I have a lot of paperbacks that I got cheap at library sales, 2n hand etc and if I've read them and they were 1-3 stars - I usually give them away og lend them and don't really keep track.

However some of my Folio books, signed hardbacks or old/rare editions, I'd never let anyone borrow :-)
