Anna, I found the above list at Listopia that might help you. There were many other lists about the American Civil War there as well if you want to search further.
So glad to hear you're making headway in your search :D

Thanks for the list, Laurie. I think that at least four of the books listed look promising, containing one or more of the elements I requested. I am not sure about a handful with very vague descriptions but I think I will eventually make may way down to them:).

"The Stars Are Falling", Joe R. Lansdale"
Whoa, I hadn't expected that kind of a short story:). It was much darker than anything I found on my own up to date. Still, I did pretty much enjoy reading it, so thanks, Rosa:).

Kris an Laurie helped me to find a few that partially matched and I found two more on my own, but again they match only partially... And now I keep wondering if perhaps I confused parts of two or more different books.
With that in mind I want to ask for recommendations on HR's with either:
- amnesia trope (but I would like the hero to be the amnesiac one, not the heroine, time period doesn't matter);
- soldier coming back home to wife that resented him previously and making amends (any time period, as long as there is some old resentment);
-soldiers coming back home after the Civil War (resentment between the H & h not necessary here)
Here are the few that I read after posting the other request in Unsolved section:
Stranger in My Arms by Lisa Kleypas;
Redemption by Shelley Shepard Gray;
The Return of Martin Guerre by Natalie Zemon Davis;
In A Stranger's Arms by Deborah Hale;
Lost in Your Arms by Christina Dodd
In this post I don't really search for a specific book, if something stirs up my memory that's good, but not exactly necessary. So please, post anything that comes to your mind.
