Complicated Blue: The Extraordinary Adventure of the Good Witch Anaïs Blue
(Good Witch Anaïs Blue, #1)
..."
Thanks Maddy! The inside is pretty good too :)

I got this review the other day. Think I will be going without food and sleep for a while:
This was a lovely book! The author keeps adding more and more new layers to the world of Anaïs with each chapter, and it gets more and more interesting as you read on. I really enjoyed reading a fresh take on the witchy world which isn't all quests, flying brooms and wands shooting glitter. Whittlesea manages to incorporate real life facts in such a clever way that his hidden witchworld is completely believable. The humour is quite understated but there. One of my favourite lines in the book ("This in turn has led to a proliferation of cooking programs on television") had me laughing hard because of the context it was placed in.
I'm waiting anxiously for the next book, and urge the writer to stop with silly nonsense like sleeping and eating, just get on with writing ;)

From the cover and title to the last word, Complicated Blue captivated me.
It's the story of a modern witch, but forget Bewitched -- the witch in question is locked in a child's body. She still has a lot to learn about being her kind, however, and that includes how to deal with "shades" (the dead whom she can see) and Grand Inquisitors.
It's original, wonderfully written and at turns light and dark. I loved it!

Same to you! I am on the other side of the Atlantic so your mornings are my evenings :)

Complicated Blue: The Extraordinary Adventure of the Good Witch Anaïs Blue
(Good Witch Anaïs Blue, #1)
Not all witches are created equal.
Can you imagine the frustration?
A teenage witch trapped in the body of a five-year-old.
For Anaïs Blue, physical limitations are the least of her problems.
In an alternative world where the dead walk the streets, and witches are their saviours, there is no hell.
There is only unfinished business.
Burdened with the responsibility of helping a ghost regain his identity, a little witch embarks on a fantastic journey. One which takes her far out of her mystical comfort zone. Exposed, inexperienced and threatened with forces more powerful than her own, a witch’s lot has never been more complicated.
Will Anaïs unearth her dead companion’s secret before it’s too late and uncover his one true purpose?
More importantly, will she find her own?
