I just got the Barnes and Noble special edition of this book from my boyfriend for my birthday.... Its such a gorgeous book.

Nice, Ally! I got an unabridged copy from my wife two Christmases ago. Excited to break into it finally!

My copy has such incredibly small print... and still +- 900 pages. Seems like a proper challenge ;-) Any of you seen one of the movie adaptations?

The movie with Jim Caviezel is great!

I found the book quite compelling as well. I'm not sure I saw that movie .. I remember sth involving Gerard Depardieu ? I'll have to look for this one!

As a child, I had a kid's version of the story on tape (or was it a book?), but it was only part 1 of several and I had always wanted to learn how the story continues ... took me only a good 30 years to get around to actually reading it. Which is quite unbelievable since it's such rather thrilling tale. The ultimate freely chosen cliffhanger ...

Anyways, I'm not going to reread it, but I'd love to watch the film to bring it back in mind again.

Matthew, I am reading an abridged version (still 600 pages) which only has 71 chapters. Would you mind listing the titles of Chapters 50 and 100 in the discussion breakdowns? Thanks.

Oh! I will see if I can - there must be a list somewhere online that I can copy and paste so I don't have to type them all out! Usually my comments are general and not chapter specific . . .

I just realized I read Carol's message wrong - she just wanted chapter 50 and 100 - I thought she wanted a list of all the chapters!
