Hello, it's time to nominate a book that will have us rushing to...insert favourite book vender here.

Place your book suggestions here, one nomination and one second per person. Do read through the rules first, please. Feel free to nominate books that have failed selection previously.

1. All nominations must be shelved on GR as fantasy primarily.

2. All nominations must be linked to their book page, or they'll be ignored.

3. All nominations must be seconded.

4. Check our group bookshelf as we won't be including books we've read since January 2014. Check here https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

5. No self-nominations.

You have a week to nominate, then I'll set up the poll.

Helen :)

Even though it was a group read in 2010, with the new TV series based on it I thought people might like to revisit it, and I just finished his Norse Mythology book and would like to read some more Gaiman.

message 3: by Javier (new)

Javier (salvatemarty) | 115 comments I'll nominate Senlin Ascends. Mark Lawrence's review of this book is great!

message 4: by Monica (new)

Monica Davis Can't believe I've only read a short story or two by Mercedes Lackey. For that reason alone I'll nominate Arrows of the Queen because I've read that that is a good place to start. Any other suggestions for a better starting book and I'll withdraw this one in its favor.

$.99 in US on Amazon and B&N right now too.

Mark Lawrence (marklawrence) | 117 comments I'll second Senlin Ascends. Mark Lawrence's review of this book is great!

message 7: by Jakub (new)

Jakub (jnareb) | 44 comments I'll second Arrows of the Queen by Mercedes Lackey. It is quite good, and a good start among many series and plots in the Companions / Valdemar universe.

I recommend A Stranger to Command by Sherwood Smith.

Brenda ╰☆╮ (brnda) | 1494 comments Haha...Mark

Alissa | 220 comments Senlin ascends is a great book! Emily May's review colored me sold and I cannot but agree.

I second A Stranger to Command, there is no such thing as too much Sherwood Smith in my life.

message 14: by Carolyn (new)

Carolyn Denman | 8 comments I'd like to nominate Laini Taylor's new novel Strange the Dreamer (Strange the Dreamer, #1) by Laini Taylor I've just started it and it is a masterpiece in worldbuilding - as fantasy should be. Breaks the myth that a story needs to be a string of action scenes. Leave those for the movies. I want great story telling!

message 15: by Monica (new)

Monica Davis Looks like all nominations so far have been seconded with the exception of Strange the Dreamer, so I'll second that one.
