Murder In Absentia by Assaph Mehr is Book of the Month for April 2017. . . A fantastic blend of history, mystery, and magic. Travel back in time to an ancient Roman setting with the murder of a young man, a gritty detective not afraid to get his hands dirty, and a brilliant plot filled with action and adventure. Set in a fantasy city of Egretia, it borrows elements from a thousand years of ancient Roman culture, to the founding of Rome to the late empire, mixed with a judicious amount of magic. This is a story of a cynical, hardboiled detective dealing with anything from daily life to the old forces roaming the world.......https://thebookofthemonth.wordpress.c...
I enjoyed this story. I don't normally like books that have such a mix of historical, mystery, magic and time travel but this was such a good combination of all that I really enjoyed it. Definitely recommend and look forward to the discussions.
The case that Felix is put onto is absolutely fascinating and has me exceptionally intrigued, I will however admit that I have found myself battling, I'm stuck at 65% done. But I am putting this down to it being of a historical setting (or type?) that I am not accustomed to so I am working on forcing myself to be a little less intimidated by it, I do really want to see what he comes up with, because it's definitely not something I've read before.
