No, nothing here!
No, nothing here!

I told my grandchildren there was a bear in the yard. Only the littlest ones believed it.

Not this year ... but 53 years ago my mother came home on April 1st and told us she was pregnant. I was 13 and told her "That's not even a good joke, Mom." I absolutely did not believe her. Finally she said to call the doctor to check. So I did. And he confirmed that yes, my mother was going to have a baby. My "baby" brother was born 1 week before my 14th birthday.

Usually work or if I just finished reading I'll think about what might happen next.

This rarely happens to me but when it does my thought process is something like, "Why can't I fall asleep?"

I am terrible about falling asleep (and staying asleep). I usually worry about things like taxes, traveling, etc. Sometimes I worry about stupid things at night, things which during the day I wouldn't give a second thought.
I have found that listening on books on CD help me a lot.

Don't know what it's for but there's a family sitting on the ceiling, food is falling, etc.

My brain tends to take the smallest concern and turn it into a dire, life or death emergency at 3am. As an example, I was throwing my daughter-in-law a surprise party this past Friday. (It was a great success, btw.) Anyway, I had ordered helium balloons for the party to be picked up that day. The employee had asked if I wanted to have the 24 hour helium at a surcharge or the 8 hour helium. I thought the 8 hour helium was fine. But, NO, at 3 am my brain believes that this is a catastrophic decision- what if they fill the balloons a few hours early, and by the time the party starts, the balloons will be lying on the floor. There is no convincing my brain that this is not catastrophic, and I can call and change my order in the morning. No sleep that night. Just my brain keeping all of the balloons in the air. Hahaha!

Love your story.

I am one lucky lady, because my husband loves to cook. I am helpful in the cleanup process.

I do most of the cooking because my husband isn't home much, but when he is home he does most of it.

I do almost all the breakfast, my husband usually gets something together for lunch and it is about a 60/40 split for suppers with me cooking more suppers.
Book Concierge wrote: "Sunday, April 9 ... Who does the cooking your house?"
Since my husband works a lot, I tend to do most of the cooking and cleaning. I really don't mind though.

Not so well. I have tried to work on this over the years and have come to accept this weakness in myself. I think all of us want to be "included" or we wouldn't be part of a group to begin with. But, some of us are more vulnerable to rejection than others, and I unfortunately fall into that group.

My husband. We have an agreement: He cooks and I eat.
Leah wrote: "April 11, Tuesday: On a scale from 1-10, how happy are you with life at the moment?"
Most of the time a 10 ... but I do have my moments ....
Most of the time a 10 ... but I do have my moments ....

It used to bother me when I was younger but I don't think it bothers me at all in my 50s. I've come to look at it as different tastes, wants, needs, etc. - and not a personal attack on me.

10 plus

Did mine in February.
Book Concierge wrote: "Thursday, April 13 - How's everyone doing with their taxes this year?"
Finished taxes back in February. Had some issues with some things but, overall, we're happy with the outcome!

Took mine to the tax preparer a week ago and picking them up today. We never get any money back so no big deal. We just do a simple form and I hate paying someone else to do them. I used to do them myself but now I am lazy and would just as soon pay someone to do them.

I did the cooking and we had 15 family members for dinner. We were so blessed to have beautiful weather. Love it when the kids can be outside to play.
Leah wrote: "April 17, Monday: Did you do anything to celebrate Easter? If so, what?"
Hubby and I drove about an hour north of where we live and went to a special Easter Brunch at a lake resort. Lovely location, great weather for a drive. Scrumptious feast! And we were seated at a table front & center ... perfect for easy access to the buffet stations, and great for people watching!
After we left (stuffed to the gills), we took a meandering drive home ...

Also since I do Skype consultations, my design business would be more limited.

How would I interact with all my Goodreads / Shelfari friends without the internet?!
But, I can get along without it for a few days ... and have done so when traveling.

I have a subscription to People magazine, Food Network magazine and a few recipe magazines.

Food Network magazine and National Geographic.
Food Network magazine and National Geographic.

Cuisine at Home, Mother Earth News

No. Our library has a magazine exchange so I get quite a few from there. It seems a lot of people read Good Housekeeping and the Oprah magazine.

Reader's Digest ... which I've subscribed to since the early 1970s!

Friday, April 21: When's the last time you received or wrote a letter .. handwritten and sent via 'snail mail' (i.e. not email).

I sent 2 Birthday cards in the mail today and I hand wrote a letter to a colleague this week. I have to say that when I was writing it, I thought it was strange to look at the page of writing instead of type.

My friend from Germany (who I met on Goodreads) and I exchange postcards and letters occasionally. I got a postcard from her while she visited Lisbon recently.

I mostly receive and send Christmas and birthday cards. Other than that, I never get hand written letters anymore.
