I avoid most adaptations of books I've enjoyed. I don't want my memory of the book tainted by bad casting/acting/staging. :)

I'm looking forward to it. The only problem I really have is that they cast a Claire who is so tall she makes Jamie look short (and the actor definitely isn't!).

And then, North and South. I actually loved the mini-series more than the book. You can't help but drown in Armitage's eyes. And that voice... *trembles*
Game of Thrones is another show am watching and it stays as close to the book as possible. But I really don't wanna talk about GoT. I'm still depressed as hell over Oberyn's death. When you read, it's hard. When you see, it's harder.

The Cranford Christmas Special (called Return to Cranford in America) - the one with Tom Hiddlestone - used much of the plot of The Moorland Cottage. It was different, but I liked both book and TV versions.

I love the 2008 Sense & Sensibility too!

I actually thought 50 Shades was bad because of both lead actors but I saw Jamie Dornan in another show and he was pretty awesome. But in general I prefer the books. I always have a problem with something in movie adaptations

I wondered, when The Scarlet Letter was in theaters, how many students based a "book report" on the plot of the movie and had Hester living happily ever after with her babydaddy.

Tammy the actor did so much to support the non acting actress that his part was lost in the location shots,
designer interiors, and 3 piece Prada suits.Jamie can act Watch "The Fall" He also has 3 films in post production before he starts filming the last 2 books 50 Darker and 50 Freed.
Susan (the other Susan) wrote: "Worst movie adaptation ever (basically just stole the title and characters) was Demi Moore's bizarre version of The Scarlet Letter. It was criminal, the way she discarded everything that makes The ..."
Not to mention the Indian attack that wasn't in the original book!

I really enjoyed the movie. It's a shame it didn't do well."
I agree, specially since there's so much scope for a sequel - with the ending as it was and there being 11 Mars novels. Who knows, they have made sequels from much, much worse movies. Have you read the book/s? I'm only at the start of the 1st novel and apart from a few differences, it seems to be following the book pretty closely.

I wish Disney would do something again with it. At least for the sake of the lead actor. I feel so bad for him, it was supposed to be his big break and Disney fumbled the PR execution.

Yeah, and for the rest of the cast too, as apart from a few of the actors, most were unknowns. I've read that the rights have gone back to the Burroughs' estate and that they're looking for another studio to take it on, so it could still happen. If they do I hope they get Kitsch to cut his hair. I think he looks better and is more in character with the shorter hair

I'm enjoying the book so far. It's written in 1st person and from the protagonist's point of view so you get right inside the hero's mind. Also, from a book written at the beguining of the last century it's not been too painful to read in regards to the accepted attitudes of the times.
