For those of you who have read all of his mythology-inspired middle grade books so far like I have (or at least all the Greek & Roman ones), be sure to mark spoilers as such because we don't want to potentially ruin anyone's experience if they're trying to catch up.
I read The Hidden Oracle a short while after it was released, but I'm always curious to see people's thoughts on it.
I'm going to do my best to reread it, but until then, I so look forward to seeing what everyone thinks of this new series/ latest installment of this world.
If you guys need some prompts on your initial thoughts and to get things rolling:
Does Apollo act how you think a God/Goddess in his situation would act?
Do you think his status in the pantheon is a factor? Would you expect Poseidon or Demeter to act similarly (Apollo's Uncle and Aunt both of which are Olympians)? or even Hypnos (distant older relative) or Ivi (Sister) both of which are not considered a part of the 12 Olympians? How would things be different and the same? (Such a school question, but I'm truly interested in people's answers.
With Riordan continuing a well-formulated and settled world, do you find this work as compelling (if at all) as you did previous books by him? Why?
What new theme(s) in this book are you finding that Riordan has decided to take on that is(are) important to you or in general?
Who is your favorite Greek/Roman God(dess) or Titan(ess)? (Within the series or in general and why)
If you were to be in one of Camp Halfblood's cabins, which would you be in (I'm just curious)?
I'll be popping back in throughout the month to respond and encourage discussion. I'll also come back with some questions for people who have finished the book later in the month.
